Mike Flanagan, whose series The Fall of the House of Usher is currently a hit on Netflix, is once again diving into the world of Stephen King for his next project, an adaptation of King’s novella The Life of Chuck from the collection If It Bleeds. More cast members have been announced for the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Jacob Tremblay.

Flanagan will not only direct the project but also co-write the script with frequent collaborator Trevor Macy, who worked with him on Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House.

Stephen King’s 2020 anthology If It Bleeds encompasses four distinct stories, including Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, which has been adapted into a Netflix movie by John Lee Hancock, The Life of Chuck, If It Bleeds, and Rat.

Tom Hiddleston is slated to portray Chuck in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s work, alongside Mark Hamill as Albie and Carl Lumbly as Sam Yarbrough.

In The Life of Chuck, the narrative is segmented into three acts, each unraveling in reverse chronological order to depict Chuck’s life, from his childhood with his grandparents following his parents’ demise, to his death at 39 due to a brain tumor. Adding a supernatural layer to the story, Chuck perceives his grandparents’ house as haunted, and as a boy he has a premonition of his adult self succumbing to a brain tumor.
