The brand-new trailer for the upcoming Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers movie has dropped, bringing with it a ton of questions and funny moments. For some odd reason, the voices of both Chip and Dale have been altered to current actors. John Mullaney is Chip and Andy Samberg is Dale. The film blends some CGI animation with the tried-and-true animation that we all grew up with when Chip ‘n’ Dale first premiered. There are some fan-favorite characters that have also appeared in the trailer, including Seth Rogen returning to reprise his role as Pumbaa. You can see the trailer below:

We sort of understand what is going on with this dual animation and live-action format. It could be trying to replicate the amazing film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but it still seems a little odd that Disney would be going this route. There seems to be some bigger force at hand that is kidnapping and taking down familiar toons. However, there are some hilarious retooled characters that should make this film interesting. The fact that there is a beat-down and grizzled version of Peter Pan is fantastic, and it seems that he will be an integral part of the film. Also, there is a quick shot of Flounder from The Little Mermaid being taken away. And the best part is Seth Rogen as Pumbaa. He is listed as the character “Bob”, but there is a moment where he is clearly Pumbaa.

Bob might be the covert name that Seth Rogen was given when he is clearly Pumbaa, but either way, it is good to see him return to his best character. There hasn’t been a Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers reboot since the old cartoon was released in 1989 and ran to 1990, so this might be unfamiliar ground for a lot of people. However, it was one of the best Disney Channel shows ever created, and the new movie is being made to premiere exclusively on Disney+. On top of Rogen, Mullaney, and Samberg, there is a host of high-level actors making their way into this film. Will Arnett, J.K. Simmons, Eric Bana, Keegan-Michael Key, and Dennis Haysbert are just some of the names that are attached to this new film.

Seth Rogen is certainly a busy man, as he has a multitude of films and upcoming projects. On top of his return as Pumbaa and this Bob character, he is set to star in The Fabelmans, which is loosely based on Steven Spielberg’s upbringing. Rogen will then voice Donkey Kong in the upcoming Illumination-made Super Mario film.

Seth Rogen, John Mullaney, Andy Samberg, and the gang are set to solve crimes and bring back fan-favorite Disney Characters when Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers officially premieres on Disney+ on May 20th. Based on how popular this movie is, there could be more Chip ‘n’ Dale spin-off shows and or movies coming out on the streaming platform as well. Maybe we can get the original voice actors back as well. No disrespect to Mullaney and Samberg, but we miss the Chip and Dale’s squeaky voices.
