Seth MacFarlane has worked with Fox for many years. In that time, he has grown increasingly vocal about his dislike of being associated with Fox News. Now, he’s particularly irritated by Tucker Carlson’s recent opinion piece, wherein he is convinced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tell lies. While MacFarlane has worked on Family Guy for the network for years, and Fox isn’t the same as Fox News, his name and his work are still associated with Tucker Carlson. If he could have it any other way, he would. He much prefers his new relationship with NBC.

You can see what Seth MacFarlane had to say about his Fox connections below.

Family Guy has been on the air since 1999. The series, which was co-created by MacFarlane, stars the voice talents of Seth Green as Chris Griffin, Mila Kunis as Meg Griffin, Alex Borstein as Lois Griffin, and Seth MacFarlane himself as Peter Griffin. While it’s hard to imagine a world wherein Fox lets Family Guy go on to another network, the creator himself has been working on projects over at NBC for a while. In fact, in 2020, he signed a TV overall deal with NBC that has been said by Deadline to include a five-year contract estimated at $200 million.

Numbers like that have led to some particular reactions on Twitter. The celebrity has made a great deal of money during his time in Hollywood, and while he has certainly earned a lot from NBC, most outlets still believe that the majority of his personal wealth has come from Family Guy on Fox. Following Seth MacFarlane’s tweet about wanting to divorce himself from the reputation of Fox News, some Twitter users suggested that Seth cares more about money than ethics, and that generally speaking, he seems hypocritical in his condemnation of a network he’s still taking money from.

Others have suggested that Seth MacFarlane find a way to make jokes about it on Family Guy.

While some vocal people may find Seth MacFarlane’s comments hypocritical, that doesn’t mean people aren’t irritated with Tucker Carlson. The political commentator for Fox News has faced multiple attempts by the internet to have him fired. None of them have worked, but cancel culture has come from Carlson many times. His job is to make inflammatory comments. Eventually, even Fox News may no longer be a safe place for the host who says the most controversial things possible.

Meanwhile, Seth MacFarlane is working on multiple projects. In theory, season three of his sci-fi series, The Orville, is still coming. A series based on his movie Ted is being made for NBC’s streaming service, Peacock. And more Family Guy, on Fox, is still happening. While he’s been less involved with the production of the animated series in recent years, he’s still voicing characters and generally involved with the show. It seems unlikely that Fox will ever be letting Family Guy go. It also seems unlikely that Tucker Carlson will be leaving the airwaves anytime soon.
