If you’re a fan of David Fincher’s iconic thriller Sev7en, then you owe it to yourself to grab the new ultimate special edition home video release next holiday season.

According to Bloody Disgusting, two special editions are set for UK releases in December 2024. One of the special editions is the Ultimate Collector’s Edition 4K Steelbook, while the other is the appropriately titled What’s in the Box?! Edition.

The Original Se7en

As one of the best films in David Fincher’s filmography, Se7en is certainly worth revisiting in glorious 4K quality.

The film follows Brad Pitt’s young Detective Mills and Morgan Freeman’s world-weary Detective Somerset as they attempt to solve a series of killings inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins.

The gripping narrative and the unforgettable ending make this one of the best serial killer mystery films out there.

Bloody Disgusting also revealed what consumers can expect to get in each special edition of Se7en.

The Ultimate Collector’s Edition 4K SteelBook will include the film in UHG and Blu-Ray, a special steel book case, a special slipcase, a 38-page booklet about John Doe, seven deadly sin crime scene art cards, a double-sided A3 poster, a “Help Me” glow-in-the-dark art card, and an investigation chalkboard art card.

Meanwhile, the What’s in the Box?! Edition will include everything in the Ultimate Collector’s Edition 4K SteelBook, along with a special box packaging, a Frosted Pine LITTLE TREES brand air freshener, seven Deadly Sin comic books, and a numbered sticker of authenticity.

Collector’s Item For Fans

It sounds like these editions of Se7en are truly worth collecting for any major fan of the film, even if the fact that the UK-exclusive releases might make it harder to get from other parts of the world.

Still, it’s a small price for one of David Fincher’s best efforts. It’s also the film that helped put him on the map as a visionary director in modern Hollywood.

David Fincher’s Other Recent Work

It’s been nearly thirty years since Se7en was released in 1995, and David Fincher is still releasing amazing projects.

Most recently, Fincher released the Netflix thriller The Killer. starring Michael Fassbender. While The Killer may not be the best film in Fincher’s oeuvre, it’s still a solid watch and taut thriller for fans of Fincher’s patient yet propulsive directing style.

The Killer And Love, Death & Robots

The Killer follows an assassin on the run from his employers after a hit goes wrong. Fincher also executive produced the most recent season of the animated anthology Netflix series Love, Death & Robots.

Fincher has kept his career consistently interesting since releasing Se7en, and it looks like that won’t be changing anytime soon.

Se7evn in 4K Ultra UHD

In the meantime, we can look forward to next year’s release of the all-time classic Se7evn in 4K Ultra UHD. It might be a long wait, but make sure to mark your calendars so you can pick up a special edition of your own when it does come out next holiday season.
