Friday’s episode of Fringe, “The Bullet That Saved the World,” left us with a lot of questions. An unexpected twist left the future direction of the show up in the air in a variety of ways. We’re not sure where the story is headed anymore, and the characters are in grave danger of coming off the rails.

This promo for next week’s episode, “An Origin Story,” hints at upcoming events and adventures. If you watched “The Bullet,” then you saw this video at the conclusion of the episode, but if you haven’t yet, steer clear, or this will ruin the surprise for you.

In this clip you see the now deceased Henrietta Bishop (Georgina Haig) become a symbol, her face appearing on posters and in rebel graffiti. Her death is sure to have an inflammatory response from her compatriots in the resistance, especially her parents.

You can see the impact this loss has on Olivia (Anna Torv) and Peter (Joshua Jackson). Emotion overtakes Liv, and she searches for a larger meaning, for answers to unanswerable questions, like why would they got her back only to lose her again.

Peter, from all appearances, starts down the slippery slope of revenge. A fellow rebel recounts that old proverb about digging two graves when you start out on a quest for vengeance. It doesn’t appear that time-tested wisdom will have an immediate effect on the grieving father as he goes, well, he goes a little Etta on a captured Observer. His actions are eerily similar to those of his daughter when they captured that loyalist a couple episodes back. Only it looks like he wants to make them feel fear, to feel the sense of pain that burns inside of him. I’d be lying if I didn’t see some spark of satisfaction and maybe even pleasure in his eyes.

What do you think of the decision to kill off Henrietta? I expected it down the road — this is the final season so you can bank of some big-time deaths — but playing that card so early in the season was a shock. It will be very, very interesting to see how things play out after this.
