Everyone’s favorite beefy Norse god is about to ride again, as Thor: The Dark World nears the start of principal photography. Even with the start date quickly approaching, there has been relatively little talk about casting. Pretty much the biggest announcements are that Christopher Eccleston (Doctor WhoHeroes) will be Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of Svartalfheim, and Zachary Levi (Chuck) is scheduled to play Fanral. Now it looks like a little bit of the Star Trek universe is about to invade Marvel’s. Actress Alice Krige, who fans will remember as  the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact, has landed a small role in Dark World.

Borg Queen Alice Krige brings a little Star Trek to Thor: The Dark World
ComicBookMovie reports that Krige broke the news during a panel at this year’s Star Trek: Las Vegas convention, and she added that “she may not be recognizable in the film.” This bit, coupled with Malekith’s inclusion, has led some to speculate that the part may be Alflyse, queen of Svartalfheim and the Dark Elves. But that’s nothing more than conjecture at this point.

Thor: The Dark World is being directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and written by Don Payne (Thor) and Robet Rodat (Falling Skies). The film follows Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his merry band into the Nine Realms beyond Asgard and Earth. In the wake of Loki being brought back to Asgard to face justice for his crimes in The Avengers, a new mythical threat rears its ugly head. There’s also said to be some dramatic relationship stuff between Thor and his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), as well as with Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).

Most of the key cast members from the first film are returning for Thor: The Dark World. The film is slated to hit theaters November 8th, 2013.
