The Forgotten Sci-Fi Action Series From Arrowverse Creator Can Be Streamed For Free

Greg Berlanti helped kick off Arrow in 2012, which led to the subsequent Arrowverse connected universe of shows on the CW. The massive popularity of the Arrowverse was great for DC fans, but it did cause his 2013 CW sci-fi series The Tomorrow People to get a bit overlooked. It’s a pretty solid show if you missed out on it, and you can stream it for free over on Tubi.

Based On A Classic British Series

The Tomorrow People was developed by Berlanti along with Phil Klemmer and Julie Plec and was an American remake of the original Roger Price-created 1970s British TV series of the same name. The CW version only ended up getting one season before it was canceled, much to the chagrin of people who got attached to the series. Still, the first season has a pretty respectable 22 episodes, so there’s a good amount to watch.

Alliterative Superpowers

The Tomorrow People had a great premise that involved humans, who have become the next stage of human evolution known as Homo Superior. These humans develop psionic abilities when they become young adults that follow into four categories: Telepathy, Teleportation, Telekinesis, and Temporal Manipulation. The series follows Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), whose father is the most powerful of these evolved humans and who disappeared years before the events of the series.

These evolved humans, known as The Tomorrow People, are also hunted by an organization known as Ultra that seeks to kill or subdue them. After developing his powers, Jameson is given a choice – help Ultra so he can live a normal life or help his own people. If you’re a fan of the Arrowverse CW shows, then you likely won’t be disappointed with what this series brings to the table.

Stars Stephen Amell’s Cousin

Robbie Amell gives a solid performance as the protagonist, and although The Tomorrow People was canceled after one season, he ended up getting into the Arrowverse as Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm in The Flash. Of course, fans of the Arrowverse will also note that Amell’s cousin, Stephen Amell, plays Oliver Queen/The Arrow. The two cousins would also collaborate on the 2019 sci-fi action film Code 8 and its 2024 sequel Code 8: Part II.

From The Creator Of DC’s Best Shows

Along with Robbie Amell, the cast of The Tomorrow People was rounded out by Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, Aaron Yoo, Madeleine Mantock, and Mark Pellegrino. While the show wasn’t a hit for CW super-producer Greg Berlanti, he had plenty of other hits to fall back on. Following the success of Arrow, Berlanti would go on to help develop super-successful shows like The Flash, Riverdale, Titans, Doom Patrol, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and many more.

Greg Berlanti also signed a mega-deal with Warner Bros Television to extend his contract with the entertainment company until 2027, so there’s sure to be plenty more of Berlanti’s brand of drama and genre TV on the way. In the meantime, you can check out the first and only season of The Tomorrow People if you’re in the mood for some psionic sci-fi action. Stream it for free now over on Tubi.
