Sandra Bullock has been in some great movies over the years and definitely shown the ability to handle all sorts of different roles. She’s ranged from action to comedy to drama, and even to some quasi-horror all without batting an eye. But her latest movie might be her best one yet, at least if the Rotten Tomatoes score can be believed. That’s because The Lost City is sitting at 100% on the review aggregator with critics clearly in love with what they’ve seen so far. It backs up the early looks at the trailers that this might be a movie that just gets it on a comedic level.

While we are only 19 reviews into things on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a good sign for Sandra Bullock and company to get this kind of critical love right out of the gate. Most critics agree that it isn’t going to walk away with any awards come that season, but in terms of what it sets out to do in the first place, the flick hits all the right beats. It’s a story in which Sandra Bullock’s character, a romance novelist, is captured by a crazy billionaire type who thinks the author’s novels are real. This leads to her male hunk of a cover model, played by Channing Tatum, thinking he needs to try and save the day and rescue her. Check out the trailer for The Lost City

See what I mean? This movie just looks like good fun with everyone kind of understanding that the entire thing is supposed to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. And it helps that everyone appears to be playing over-the-top versions of each character. Sandra Bullock’s Loretta Sage is a quieter novelist who just wants to avoid problems, Channing Tatum’s Alan is a bit of an intellectual lightweight who is heavy on the brawn but lacking brains. And then there is Daniel Radcliffe’s Abigail Fairfax, the evil rich dude who thinks the fake lost city is real. Oh of course you catch Brad Pitt at the end as Jack Trainer, the only guy who appears to have real skills in this arena. It all just lines up perfectly.

Sandra Bullock and company are set to hit the big screen with The Lost City on March 25th when it comes out in wide release. And fans of the actress might want to catch this one because it’s unclear just how much we are going to see Bullock on the screen going forward. She has a role in Bullet Train (also featuring Pitt) coming out this year. But after that, she has intimated that an extended break is coming on the acting side. Sandra Bullock said that she was going to spend more time with her family, specifically her children. She’s given no timetable on what that means so one would have to assume it’s going to be an extended absence from the film and television industry.

It’s all the more reason to catch Sandra Bullock in The Lost City. You can also catch her on Netflix in The Unforgiveable which hit the streamer late last year.
