A Quiet Place: Day One Is The Biggest In The Franchise And Here’s The Proof

A Quiet Place: Day One

Sometimes, a hit film will spawn sequels within its universe that are lackluster compared to the original. Though the 2020 sequel to A Quiet Place didn’t exactly live up to the hype of the first in the franchise, the recently released trailer for the upcoming A Quiet Place: Day One shows that sometimes a studio is wise to keep a franchise in motion. The latest installment has a new cast of characters and an exceptional array of cinematic special effects and gives audiences the answer to what they’ve been asking since the first film was released: How did this all begin?

Quiet Place: Day One has been billed as more of a spinoff film rather than a sequel…

A Quiet Place: Day One gives fans a good look at what the world was like in the moments leading up to when the unnamed extraterrestrials took over the Earth and quickly turned it into a nightmarish hellscape. Many fans might have been speculating what those early days were like and how humans adapted to being forced to silence themselves lest they become hunted by the invaders that have made Earth their new home. The fact that fans are aware that this film isn’t in direct line with any of the characters in the previous films also lends a broader sense of fear, as the fate of any character they encounter on screen is powerfully uncertain.

A Quiet Place III, is set to complete what Krasinski eventually admitted was going to be a trilogy and is tentatively set for a 2025 release.

The road to completing production for the newest A Quiet Place film took time and persistence. The film was originally announced to be in production back in 2020, but creative differences between essential crewmembers and the studio cost some valuable time as director Jeff Nichols bailed on the project. Months after John Krasinski’s script was finally finished in 2021, Paramount announced that Michael Sarnoski would be taking over at the helm.

Krasinski’s script melds with the veteran directorial prowess of Sarnoski, combined with a chilling score and masterful (but not over-the-top) special effects. Fans of the franchise should expect nothing less than the best, based on who worked behind the scenes on the film and who they are about to see on the screen.

Djimon Hounsou and Lupita Nyong’o in A Quiet Place: Day One

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o stars in the film, giving what looks to be her most brilliant performance since she took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave in 2014. Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou rounds out a spectacular cast that is unmatched compared to the others in the universe of A Quiet Place. Add in the fact that Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson in Season 4 of Stranger Things) has a starring role, and you’ve got a film that seems on course to truly eclipse its namesake.

A Quiet Place: Day One has been billed as more of a spinoff film than a sequel that follows on the heels of the second installment in the franchise released in 2020. A third installment, A Quiet Place III, is set to complete what Krasinski eventually admitted was going to be a trilogy and is tentatively set for a 2025 release. The spinoff film is slated for a June 2024 launch in theaters.
