A massive tragedy occurred yesterday, as actors and crew from the Netflix series The Chosen One were involved in a massive car accident. They had been traveling in a van when the accident occurred. The cast and crew were filming in Santa Rosalia. They had been traveling on a road near Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula. There were six people involved in the accident. Two actors tragically lost their life: Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar. Two other cast members and four crew members were injured because of the accident. Since then, production for The Chosen One on Netflix has been shut down.
Redrum is the production company handling the duties of filming The Chose One for Netflix, and the company has seen fit to shut down the production, presumably while the investigation takes place on what occurred. This is a massive tragedy that has claimed the lives of two people. The actors and crew members traveling in the van had been reportedly making their way to the airport when the accident occurred. The investigation is being investigated by SAG-AFTRA. SAG-AFTRA is the union comprised of taking care of television and radio workers. So far, there is no foul play suspected at this time. The other cast and crew that had been injured in the accident are all in stable condition.
The Chose One is about a 12-year-old boy who realizes that he is the second coming of Jesus Christ, and he has returned to save mankind. The series has presumably busy filming its next season when the accident occurred. Netflix has not released a statement on the accident, though that is likely due to the investigation that is currently taking place on the accident. Dedications on Twitter have emerged for the two actors that lost their lives from The Chosen One on Netflix. You can see those below:
Friends of the actors have voiced their devastation for the accident, and most have asked the question regarding if there was any foul play to be looked at in this tragedy. Juan Francisco González Aguilar was known professionally as Paco Mufote. A friend close to Mufote had spoken to reporters and claimed the man had complained about the traveling logistics of the production. He claimed that the crew might have been taken advantage of to cut costs for the series. If that is true, Netflix and The Chosen One production will have some answering to do.
We send our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and all that knew these men. Hopefully, there is no foul play or mechanical issues with the van that was used that led to this tragic accident. We hope there is some sort of solace taken from the fact that these men had been beloved by their colleagues, family, and friends. Netflix and The Chosen One will presumably work together to figure out the next steps, but this could potentially shut down the production for the foreseeable future. The investigation into this accident is still underway.
