If Marvel was hoping to get an Emmy nod for their Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight, they might have just flubbed their chances. Moon Knight is currently in contention to be nominated in the limited series category for the Emmys, but a tweet from the superhero studio could prompt the Television Academy to reject their submission and move them to the drama category instead.

The tweet in question was posted by the official Marvel Studios account. They tweeted a trailer for the last episode of Moon Knight urging fans to tune in for the “series” finale. However, the post was changed minutes later to say “season” finale.

Eagle-eyed Twitter users caught the edit, which is prompting many to believe that Marvel is going to pursue a second season of the show. Although a second season hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel, the Television Academy can use posts from social media as evidence to reject a limited series submission. Marvel is also submitting Hawkeye, which is also rumored to have a second season. However, unlike the Moon Knight tweet, there isn’t anything out there as of yet that could get that series rejected. Marvel faced this Emmy problem in the past with their Loki series, as a post-credits scene revealed plans for a second season.

Fans have been loving Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight as he plays quadruple duty as Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Mr. Knight, and Moon Knight. The multifaceted performance will surely be considered for an Emmy, but it seems like the show itself might be relegated to the drama category at this point. Either way, it’s looking like it’s going to be good news for Oscar Isaac. Even if Moon Knight is dropped from the limited series category, it could still have a chance to win an award in the drama category. It could also open up the possibility for Oscar Isaac’s Scenes from a Marriage to snag the limited series nomination. Isaac executive produced and starred in that series, which depicted a couple dealing with the obstacles of marriage. It definitely seems like the Emmys could be a successful night for Oscar Isaac this year.

Moon Knight is the latest show in the Marvel Disney+ pantheon. It tells the story of Marc Spector/Steven Grant, a man who has been granted power by the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. The show stars Oscar Isaac along with Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, F. Murray Abraham, and more. Moon Knight is one of the rare Marvel properties that largely ignores its greater MCU ties and is much more self-contained than many of the Marvel shows and movies. This would make it very easy to end the series after one season, but you never know what plans Marvel has up their sleeves. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if Moon Knight is granted another season or that coveted limited series Emmy nod. You can now stream the series, or season depending on who you ask, in its entirety on Disney+.
