Liam Neeson didn’t last long in the Star Wars universe but it didn’t take long for his presence to be felt and to make the turn a memorable one. But it looks like the one movie won’t be it for the actor as a Jedi. It’s looking like Giant Freakin Robot’s original scoop is fully confirmed with even more details coming out about how the actor will work into the current Star Wars landscape of shows. According to The Direct Qui-Gon Jinn will be featured in a cameo on the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ with Neeson reprising the role.

The more specific news around Liam Neeson returning to the screen as Qui-Gon Jinn was pieced together through a couple of different Reddit threads that not only detailed the return, but also the mechanics within the Star Wars universe that would *allow* it to happen. Here’s an excerpt from that explanation:

“Before he (Obi-Wan) and Yoda had parted ways, the old Jedi revealed that Obi-Wan’s beloved master Qui-Gon Jinn had returned from the netherworld of the Force, manifesting his conscious mind even after death. It took 10 years, but eventually, Obi-Wan was able to commune with his dearest friend, resurrected within the cosmic Force. “

Because the Force is so powerful and, well, the folks at Star Wars can always create rules that allow for non-linear lifespans and arcs around Jedis, the path for Liam Neeson to return to the universe becomes a little clearer. What was somewhat problematic around it before was that his character actually died near the end of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In a fight with Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn is killed before Obi-Wan dispatches Maul. It would seem though, that through the power of the Force, we’ll be able to get at least a cameo for Jinn who will appear in some fashion to presumably help Kenobi in this new show.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to be a limited series in the Disney+ lineup of Star Wars shows set to hit the streaming service in the next year or so. It will pick up the story following the events of Revenge of the Sith when the titular character is now living as Old Man Ben on Tatooine and following/ protecting a young Luke Skywalker who doesn’t know his history quite yet. Ewan McGregor is set to reprise the role with Hayden Christiensen also coming back to play Darth Vader. So it will be a prequel trilogy reunion of sorts with Liam Neeson also joining the mix.

Besides Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, and Hayden Christensen, there are a ton of others joining the Star Wars ranks for the first time. Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Joel Edgerton, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson, and Rupert Friend are also set to join the cast as well. It is going to be a packed event, telling a much-anticipated story about that time when Luke is coming of age, Darth Vader is working his way into power and Obi-Wan Kenobi is getting on his Jedi years. For fans of Star Wars canon, this is going to be a must-watch. And it’s very cool that Neeson’s character will return even in a guiding role.
