Krysten Ritter’s Personal Favorite Breaking Bad Scene Was Also The Most Heartbreaking

Krysten Ritter's favorite Breaking Bad scene was the one where she *spoilers* dies.

One of Krysten Ritter’s best roles is undoubtedly Jane Margolis, Jesse Pinkman’s next-door neighbor and eventual girlfriend in Breaking Bad. While Ritter brought nuance and charisma to the character over the course of her time on the show, her favorite scene is actually her most heartbreaking — when her character dies in front of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. As reported by ComicBook.com, Ritter talked about the shocking scene during her appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, saying,

“I’ll never forget it and we watched it and all of us were on our feet like hands over mouth like we were shocked we were just shocked and so moved by it and that was like the coolest f–king thing I had ever done…I feel so lucky to have been a part of something so amazing and so well done and like they caught lightning in a bottle.”

Krysten Ritter is certainly not exaggerating about Breaking Bad catching lightning in a bottle. In the Golden Era of TV dramas, the show managed to capture the attention of everyone, garnering immense commercial appeal and critical acclaim. The scene of Jane dying while Walter stood by and did nothing, despite being more than able to, certainly goes down as one of the most shocking and pivotal moments on a show full of these moments.

While Krysten Ritter only appeared in nine episodes of the series, her character had a major impact, leading to a domino effect of events that would affect the characters and the series as a whole from that point on. She also got a chance to reprise the role in the Breaking Bad sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. However, we never did get to see her pop up in the equally incredible prequel series Better Call Saul.

Another interesting tidbit from Krysten Ritter’s podcast appearance was when she talked about her potential future at Marvel. Fans will remember that Ritter played Jessica Jones in the series of the same name back when Marvel shows were primarily on Netflix. She also reprised the role in the Netflix hero team-up series The Defenders.

Before Marvel shows moved to Disney+, the Netflix shows remained largely separate from the MCU films. While fans were unsure if any of these characters would get their chance to return, their concerns were assuaged when Charlie Cox reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home for a brief cameo followed by a significant appearance in the She-Hulk show. Hopefully, we could see Krysten Ritter get that same chance, considering many MCU fans loved her take on Jessica Jones.

Cox wasn’t the only Netflix character that made the jump to the MCU, as Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin also appeared in the Hawkeye series. Both characters are set to appear in the upcoming Echo series, and Cox will get his own show with Daredevil: Born Again. Rumors have been saying that there’s a chance that Cox’s Daredevil could be looking for Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones when he shows up in Echo, but Marvel is staying characteristically quiet on any details.

Krysten Ritter didn’t give us much to go off in her interview, saying, “I have no idea; I hope so,” adding, “Marvel is so secretive – I am just putting that out there that, of course, I would be there in a second,” when asked about coming back as Jones. Of course, as we know from Andrew Garfield, we know that big Marvel surprises are usually kept under wraps. We’ll just have to wait until Echo comes out on Disney+ in early 2024.
