Katee Sackhoff Mandalorian

In the most recent episode of The Mandalorian, viewers were introduced to Bo-Katan Kryze for the first time in live-action. The role, voiced by Katee Sackhoff for eight years on the animated series Clone Wars and Rebels, was brought to life by Sackhoff, the first crossover between The Mandalorian and the various animated series. Now, Sackhoff has addressed the rumors that this means Bo-Katan Kryze might be getting her own story.

In an interview with Deadline, Katee Sackhoff discussed playing Bo-Katan in the flesh for the first time, and her character’s goals moving forward in the future of The Mandalorian. Yet when asked if Bo-Katan would be getting a spinoff, or maybe a part on the rumored spinoff centering around Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune, Sackhoff admitted, “I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about; that’s legitimately the truth.”

From Katee Sackhoff’s interview, it sounds as though actors on The Mandalorian know very little about what is going on with their character beyond the episode they’re filming, although Katee Sackhoff does say she knows plenty about this world that she isn’t allowed to reveal to the public yet. However, it does seem like at least some of the current season of The Mandalorian will center around Bo-Katan trying to get her darksaber back from Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon. The interview implies that we can assume future episodes will explain how Moff Gideon got Bo-Katan’s darksaber in the first place.

Katee Sackhoff is supposedly not playing the only character from the animated series in this latest season of The Mandalorian. Rumor is that Clone Wars’ Ahsoka Tano might be appearing, played by Rosario Dawson. Although this may be true, Sackhoff says that she didn’t film any episodes with Dawson. While it might not be clear what the future holds for Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano, it is telling that Disney is trying to bring them into the live-action Star Wars for the first time in years. Because of this, it seems likely that Disney has bigger plans for these characters than they’re currently letting on.

With Disney introducing characters like Ahsoka Tano and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan to a larger audience, it seems like there are bigger plans for bringing the animated to live-action. Such a huge leap seems unlikely as simply a way to fill out a few episodes of The Mandalorian. Even if Disney was planning an entire series around Gina Carano’s Cara Dune, they might not want to go that route anymore, after Carano’s controversial takes on Twitter

Katee Sackhoff Mandalorian

Yet even beyond The Mandalorian, there are plenty of opportunities for Katee Sackhoff to play Bo-Katan in live-action. While there are several Star Wars films in the works as of right now, I’d guess Disney isn’t quite ready to start combining the TV series and films in such a major way just yet. However, Bo-Katan could theoretically appear in the upcoming Cassian Andor series, which is currently in preproduction. But my guess is that she would be perfect for the rumored new series from Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland, which is rumored to center around a group of females in the Star Wars universe.

But it seems like Disney wouldn’t get Katee Sackhoff to bring Bo-Katan to life for just a small arc on The Mandalorian. Combining the animated and live-action Star Wars worlds is a big leap for this universe, so while Sackhoff doesn’t know of any plans to bring her character back in another series, it does seem incredibly likely that Disney would have some major plans for the character going forward.
