Earlier this month, Big Bang Theory actress and comedian Kate Micucci spooked fans when she announced she had been diagnosed with lung cancer and would soon be having surgery.

Now, in a heartwarming turn of events, the comedian is sharing the incredible news that she is cancer-free. According to Variety, the comedian took to TikTok to express her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support she received during her health journey.

“Hey everyone! I just wanted to thank you all so much for the good wishes and all the love that I have received this past week,” Micucci began. She continued by saying how much it meant to her to see that support and that it came at a time when she needed it the most.

The actress continued the video by explaining that the surgery was a success. She expressed her gratitude to the medical professionals who played a crucial role in her recovery.

“All the reports came back that it worked. I don’t need to do any other treatment,” Kate Micucci said. “So big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me.”

According to her TikTok videos, Kate Micucci was extremely lucky in detecting her lung cancer early.

The actress claims to have never smoked a cigarette in her life, which meant that the cancer was a surprise.

“But also I guess, also, it happens,” she said in her video, “and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.”

Kate Micucci is one of 238,340 people diagnosed with lung cancer every year in the United States. Each year more than half of those diagnosed end up dying from the cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.

Known for her roles in popular sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, where she portrayed Raj’s love interest Lucy, Kate Micucci’s announcement resonated with fans who had followed her career.
