Universal Studios in California and Florida have an annual Halloween festival called Halloween Horror Nights, which is comprised of a ton of current and past horror films turned into frightening mazes for patrons to walk through. For instance, this year Blumhouse Productions has their own mazes dedicated to Freaky (2020) and the newly released Black Phone (2022). However, that is not the only trick that Universal has up its sleeves. It has been announced that the Harry Potter portion of both theme parks will see the biggest villains prowling the streets. Those villains are none other than Voldemort’s loyal followers: Death Eaters. The dark wizards will roam Hogsmeade Village looking for wizards to join the Dark Lord’s cause.

Harry Potter is certainly not horror, but there has been plenty of horrific moments in the franchise’s history. Some of those moments contained epic wand battles between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters. Bellatrix Lestrange is one of the most famous Death Eaters, and she was responsible for killing Harry’s godfather, Sirius Black. Most of the time, the Death Eaters are cloaked in black and have masks on to conceal their identities. It is going to be quite exciting to see the Death Eaters roaming around looking for Voldemort supporters. The Death Eaters did appear as part of the Dark Arts show at Hogwarts Castle, but it’s good they are bringing them back.

Universal Studios is going to be chock full of great thrills this Halloween season. In addition to the Death Eaters from Harry Potter and the Blumhouse mazes, Halloween Horror Nights are going to be bringing in a wide variety of mazes. Surprisingly, popular singer, The Weeknd, has brought his own maze to the festivities. It is called After Hours Nightmare. Joining the singing sensation are mazes based on Halloween, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the Universal Monsters, and La Larona. This year is surely going to be quite frightening.

Universal scored big by creating the Harry Potter Anniversary Special on HBO Max. The documentary brought back many of the actors that had appeared in the franchise and told many unheard stories of the struggles and successes that were dealt with when filming the cultural phenomenon that is Harry Potter. Not that the Death Eaters are anything new, but it sounds like Universal is ramping up its Harry Potter content quite a bit lately. We can’t wait to see what is going to happen if we were to swear our allegiance to Voldemort.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando begins on September 2nd and runs all the way to October 31st. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood begins on September 8th and runs all the way to Halloween. Those brave enough to attend the theme park on Halloween night are sure to be in for some extra scares. Harry Potter is bringing in the Death Eaters, but who knows what can be lurking in the shadows? We hope Nagini isn’t slithering around. We’re fine with people scaring us, but a giant snake is not going to go over well for anyone.
