Gal Gadot is currently in the process of appearing as the Evil Queen in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Snow White. While it is certainly a role in which she is not normally cast in, fans are eagerly awaiting to see how she is going to portray the character. However, the excitement for the film might have to be put for some time as the studio where the film is currently being shot has caught on fire. Pinewood Studios, which is located in the UK, was set ablaze earlier today. While the set was under construction, a tree on the set of the film had apparently caught fire, setting the whole setup ablaze.

The fire had apparently broken out on the Richard Attenborough stage at Pinewood Studios. The reports indicated that the fire was next to what appeared to be a mock thatched cottage, and the flames had reached all the way to the top of the ceiling of the set. Further images released showed smoke billowing outside of the building where the stage is at. While nobody had been on the set during the fire, an unnamed source told The Sun, “Rumor is a piece of set has caught alight and spread across the rest of the set. Some crew in the studio were shaken but evacuated without injury.” This is great news considering both Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler could have been on the set that day, among plenty of other staff for the film. Thankfully nobody was hurt.
The Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were quick to the scene and had reportedly brought with them 12 appliances, which includes fire trucks, pumps, and ladders.

As mentioned above, Gal Gadot is set to take on the role of the Evil Queen, with Rachel Zegler of West Side Story fame taking on the role of Snow White. Zegler had apparently been present during the BAFTA awards and the London-based Critics Choice Awards but has since been called away to New York for the National Board of Review Awards where she has been nominated for her role in West Side Story. Things could have been much worse if anyone had been at that stage when it caught fire.

Strangely enough, this is not the first time in which Pinewood Studios has caught fire. The studio was also set ablaze during the Ridley Scott film, Legend, which came out in 1984, and the 2006 Bond film, Casino Royale. Whatever is going on at Pinewood to cause this many fires, needs to be addressed. Even though it seems that every 20 years seems to be average in which the studio sees fire, three times is still far too many times. Imagine a full crew on a film set and a fire going crazy. People could get hurt and lose their lives. We know Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, but she can’t save everyone.

Snow White is currently in development and is eyeing a 2023 release date. While a fire is sure to make things a bit more complicated, there have been no reports of the film being further delayed. Hopefully, Pinewood Studios can address the issues that have caused the forest on set to catch fire. With the inevitable forest-type landscape that is sure to be in the movie, they would do well to make sure nothing else is set ablaze going forward.
