Evan Peters Returning As Quicksilver In The MCU?

Evan Peters in X-Men: Apocalypse

Before playing Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Evan Peters was Quicksilver in three X-Men films prior to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Four years have passed since his last appearance as the speedster in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. While a recent report hints that he may soon pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it likely won’t be in the expected role fans desire.

Evan Peters is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while fans want him as the mutant speedster Quicksilver, they should continue to prepare for disappointment.

If you recall, Evan Peters has already made an appearance in the MCU, however, it wasn’t as Quicksilver. Instead, the closing act of the Disney+ series WandaVision revealed Peters as aspiring actor Ralph Bohner, an ordinary character caught in Agatha Harkness’s schemes. Now, a new report suggests his character’s role in the MCU might continue.

According to Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, Evan Peters will likely return in the much-anticipated WandaVision spin-off series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Given the unresolved arc of his character in WandaVision, there’s undoubtedly potential for further development. Moreover, with the confirmed return of several Westview residents, Marvel is likely to delve deeper into Ralph Bohner’s story.

Evan Peters played Ralph Bohner in WandaVision, a Westview resident caught in Wanda’s hex that only pretended to be her brother, Pietro.

Back when Evan Peters joined WandaVision, fans naturally assumed he would be returning as Quicksilver. After all, in the Marvel Comics, Quicksilver (aka Pietro Maximoff) is the twin brother of Wanda Maximoff. However, the twist identifying Peters as Ralph Bohner left fans hoping to see the actor’s return as the lightning-fast mutant sorely disappointed.

Evan Peters in WandaVision

Evan Peters first donned the silver streak as Quicksilver in the 2014 film, X-Men: Days of Future Past. In a franchise overflowing with A-list stars and iconic characters, Pters managed to steal the show. His memorable sequence, set to the tune of Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle,” showcased the mutant’s super-speed capabilities in a playful and visually arresting manner.

Following Days of Future Past, Evan Peters reprised his role as Quicksilver in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and 2019’s Dark Phoenix. In each appearance, he delivered memorable scenes that combined humor, emotion, and breathtaking visual effects, further cementing his version of Quicksilver as a fan favorite. While it’s unlikely that Marvel Studios will reintroduce Peters’ Quicksilver in the MCU, with the multiverse now in play, anything is possible.

There have been seemingly countless rumors surrounding Deadpool 3, which will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speculation suggests appearances from Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, and Halley Berry’s Storm, among others. These characters were previously in Fox’s Marvel films before Disney’s acquisition.

Deadpool 3 is bringing back Fox’s X-Men cast, which might include Evan Peters as Quicksilver, so could he really be Pietro in Agatha: Coven of Chaos?

As of now, there’s no official word on whether Evan Peters will play an MCU version of Quicksilver, reprise his role from the pre-Disney X-Men movies, or even feature in the film. Nevertheless, his potential involvement has stirred excitement among fans. Sadly, with the movie set for a November 8, 2024 release, details might remain under wraps for quite some time.

For now, fans are hopeful about the reports of Evan Peters reprising his role as Ralph Bohner in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The spin-off was originally set for a late 2023 release, but ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes might cause delays. We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out.
