Dwayne Johnson Under Fire For Behavior On Set Of Upcoming Blockbuster
From an outsider’s perspective, Dwayne Johnson is the perfect action hero – leading his films to box office victory, giving back to his community, and even stopping tours driving around his neighborhood to say hi and – occasionally – give them gifts. But the truth about the actor is beginning to surface, and it sounds like he’s a royal pain to work with.
Not the co-star or leading man you’d want to have on your set. Multiple sources have started to step forward to lodge their complaints against the pro-wrestler-turned-movie-star, as he allegedly is the primary cause in running up the budget for the Christmas-themed action flick, Red One, to a whopping $250 million.
Gross On-Set Behavior Revealed
For a comparison of how huge that is on a Hollywood production, $250 million is the same amount dropped on titles including Thor: Love and Thunder, Furious 7, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and others that were more highly-anticipated than Red One. As for Dwayne Johnson’s string of bad behavior, the main two pointed out by those close to the project are his tardiness and several rather unprofessional habits – like peeing in water bottles instead of using a bathroom.
Delays Production
Yes, you read that right. Insiders reported that Dwayne Johnson will avoid “the public bathroom” when he’s away from his trailer and instead relieve himself in a water bottle, leaving it for either someone on his team or a PA to toss in the garbage. He also has allegedly turned up late – we’re talking up to eight hours late – leaving the crew in a bind with no choice but to change the production schedule.
Habitually Late
This isn’t the first time that Dwayne Johnson has been called out for his late arrivals, as in the past, he’s been running more than a little bit behind for WWE events and was also said to be behind schedule on more than a handful of occasions when working on HBO’s Ballers. While the pee bottles may be gross on their own, the amount of money the studio is hemorrhaging with Johnson’s inability to show up to places on time is likely putting a strain on his relationship with Amazon Studio.
Red One Already Faced Delays
It’s also worth pointing out that Red One was first billed as releasing around the holiday season back in 2023. After facing a setback that was un-Dwayne Johnson-related and said to be part of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the release date was moved to November 15, 2024, with the studio certainly hoping that this time will be the charm.
The Cast Of Red One
Red One centers around an action-packed mission for a member of the team known as E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) as the operative links up with a bounty hunter to track down Santa who has been kidnapped by a villain. Joining Dwayne Johnson on the call sheet is fellow superstar Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), with an ensemble that includes J.K. Simmons (Juno), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Volume 1).
