With so many shows receiving reimaginings and retellings, has the time come for Desperate Housewives to land a reboot? According to Parade, Jesse Metcalfe, who has since starred alongside Bruce Willis and Chad Michael Murray in Fortress, is pushing for the show to receive a second installation or at the very least, a reunion. With no one at the top coming up with possibilities, Metcalfe took things into his own hands.

Sharing his ideas about a Desperate Housewives reboot, Metcalfe thinks that the beloved television series could do what many others have – move towards a younger generation. While he once appeared on the eight-season-running early 2000s show as John Rowland, a young gardener who catches the eye of Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle Solis, Metcalfe thinks that the series could pick up with him now being a father. With nothing fully fleshed out, the actor says that he “could be like one of the parents of like the younger cast or something.”

Created by Marc Cherry for ABC, the comedy-drama centered around a group of women living on Wisteria Lane who, in the first season, is dealing with the unexpected and suspicious suicide of one of their own. Known for its licentious plotlines and characters, the series starred Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, and Marcia Cross. With mystery around every corner, each season of Desperate Housewives brought a new tangled web for its main characters meaning that a reboot would surely be welcomed by its dedicated fan base.

With other titles of the time like That ‘70s Show receiving the next chapters in their stories, it’s almost a sure-fire thing that a Desperate Housewives reboot would draw in massive viewership numbers. As is the case with other reboots, the major problem standing in the way would be the schedules of the main cast and how to work them in. It’s been over a decade since the series went off the air with the leading actors all moving on to start fresh with new projects, making it that much more difficult to come together.

Since his time on the critically celebrated award-winning series, Jesse Metcalfe has continued to bolster his career with his performance on the show helping him to land the titular role in the 2006 feature John Tucker Must Die. Mostly starring in action-packed films alongside the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Michael Douglas, it sounds like the actor would make time in his busy schedule to move back to Wisteria Lane and return to the world of drama for a Desperate Housewives reboot. Most recently, Metcalfe joined forces with Dennis Quaid in the Amazon Prime Video biographical survival film, On a Wing and a Prayer.

The only member of the cast calling for a Desperate Housewives reboot, Jesse Metcalfe will definitely need to get other cast and crew participants on board should a follow-up chapter be possible. Although it’s been a while since the ladies were all together, gossiping and carrying out their secretive and exciting lives, we’d love to see what they and the rest of the characters have been up to since the show took its final bow back in 2012.
