The Hashira are the most powerful warriors in the Demon Slayer Corps. Each Hashira has their own unique set of abilities and fighting styles that set them apart from the others, but which is the most powerful? Let’s rank these demon slaying fighters by their raw power.

9. Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho

In terms of raw power, the Insect Hashira Shinobu Kochu would probably rank in the lowest spot in Demon Slayer. However, don’t mistake this lack of raw power for a lack of demon slaying ability. Shinobu Kochu actually lacks the strength to cut off the heads of demon (a surefire way to kill them), but she makes up for it by developing her own wisteria-based poison which she uses against demons.

Shinobu Kochu’s intelligence and speed allows her to gain the upper hand on demons who assume her lack of power keeps them safe. With a poison-imbued blow, Kochu can take out demons with her speedy and impressive Insect Breathing style. While Kochu might rank last in raw strength, she’s definitely not a Hashira to be trifled with.

8. Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui

The Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui is one of the Hashiras that Demon Slayer anime watchers have been able to see in action the most. Tengen Uzui accompanied Tanjiro and co to the Entertainment District to investigate the possible presence of demons, leading them to confront the Upper Six demons Gyutaro and Daki.

Tengen Uzui may say that he isn’t all that talented, but his skills with his impressive cleavers and his Sound Breathing technique show that he’s just being humble. Uzui was also raised as a shinobi and has gained numerous fighting skills from that training as well. However, Tengen decided to hang up his sword after suffering injuries at the hands of his battle with the Upper Six.

7. Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito

Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito could be the youngest Hashira, obtaining the rank after just two months of being a Demon Slayer Corps member. Tokito may come across as uncaring and aloof during his initial appearacnes, but we later learn his tragic past left him struggling to remember who he was. Tokito would begin to regain his memories and his true self in the Swordsmith Village Arc during Season 3.

This would only prove to make Muichiro Tokito stronger, as he was able to summon the strength to defeat the Upper Five demon almost entirely on his own. Considering his immense potential to grow as a swordsman, it seems safe to say that Muichiro Tokito may easily climb these rankings in the future. But, for now, his youth puts him lower on the Demon Slayer list.

6. Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji

The Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji certainly lives up to her Hashira name, as her unique Love Breathing style perfectly fits her bubbly and extroverted personality. However, Mitsuri Kanroji is much more than just a cheery pretense, as she more than proved her strength and skills by holding off the Upper Four demon’s Emotion demon while Tanjiro worked to take down the main body. Her whip-like weapon is also one of the most unique swords in Demon Slayer, and she is able to wield it with ease.

Anime watchers have only seen Mitsuri Kanroji take on the dragons of the Upper Four’s Emotion demons, so there is surely more of her power to see. We did see Kanroji get close to reaching her limits, though she was able to hold out and make sure that Tanjiro was able to cut off the Upper Four’s head. It’ll be interesting to see what Kanroji does next in Demon Slayer

5. Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro

The Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro is certainly one of the most mysterious Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. His strange appearance is characterized by a bandage covering most of his face and a white serpent that is constantly by his side. Anime watchers have yet to see this Hashira truly let loose.

However, it’s safe to say that Obani Iguro is likely quite a powerful Hashira, based on that fact that he considred Tengen Uzai weak for retiring after nearly dying against the weakest of the upper ranked demons. It remains to be see seen what the mysterious Iguro can really do. But it seems likely it’s going to be quite impressive.

4. Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka

demon slayer

The Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka is the first Hashira we meet in the series, and is likely one of the most powerful. Tomioka also seems to have a good heart, despite his serious demeanor. Tomioka makes the decision to spare Nezuko when he could have easily killed her after she first turned into a demon.

In fact, Tomioka goes to bat for Tanjiro and Nezuko when confronted by the other Hashira, promising to sacrifice himself if Nezuko’s demon nature ever causes her to attack a human. Tomioka has displayed his skill quite a few times in the Demon Slayer series. Most notably, he easily dispatches a lower six ranked demon in seconds with his fearsome Water Breathing techniques.

3. Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa

The Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinzugawa is another Hashira that Demon Slayer anime watchers have yet to see really let loose. Right now, the most we’ve seen him do is try to get Nezuko to give in to her demon nature and attack him directly. Sanemi Shinazugawa’s hotheaded and brash nature isn’t just window dressing though, as he’s undoubtedly a powerful Hashira.

As the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinzugawa’s biggest strength is his immense speed. He is likely one of the fastest characters in Demon Slayer, and he also has a hatred for demons driving him. Seeing him let loose in the anime will certainly be something to see.

2. Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku

If it wasn’t for his untimely death, it’s certainly possible that the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku could have topped this list. Even so, Rengoku’s incredible strength and resilience was evident from the brief time Demon Slayer fans spent with him during the Mugen Train Arc. Rengoku was able to single-handedly protect most of the passengers on the train while Tanjiro and co focused on taking out the demon attacking it.

Not only that, but Rengoku was able to save everyone on the train when it derailed with his immese speed and Flame Breathing techniques. Even after Rengoku spent hours defending people on the Mugen Train, he was able to go toe-to-to with the Upper Three demon Akuza, almost killing him by holding him in place until the sun comes up. However, Akuza was able to get away by ripping his arm off and we never got to see the full potential of Rengoku in Demon Slayer.

1. Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima

Finally, the strongest of the Hashira is likely the Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima. Gyomei Himejima’s sensitive nature and tendency to cry may make him seem weaker than he is, but underneath that sensitive exterior he is an incrdibly powerful warrior. The Stong Hashira towers over the others, and typically the one that the other Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps look to for orders.

Gyomei Himejima also achieved the rank of Hashira just two months after joining the Demon Slayer Corp. An impressive feat that was also matched by the swordsman prodigy Muichiro Tokito. However, Himejima’s power and experience, along with the respect he commands from other Hashira, makes him an easy choice for the #1 spot on the Hashira rankings list.
