Chris Evans

A lot of people might not remember, but Chris Evans was in one of the first Marvel films. This was back before the MCU have been devised and he became the legendary Captain America. Evans had originally popped up in Fantastic 4, where he took on the role of the wise-cracking Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. He reprised this same role in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. However, this was far before Disney and Marvel linked up to truly deliver some of the best films ever made. Evans is currently on his promotional tour for Lightyear, and he has been asked plenty of questions, including if he would ever return as MCU Johnny Storm. When asked that exact question, Evans had this to say, “God, wouldn’t that be great? Wouldn’t that be great?”

Chris Evans was being interviewed by Jon Horwitz of MTV News, who got deep about the subjects of the multiverse and the MCU. This led to Evans being asked about reprising his role, even in a multiverse-type setting. He added, “No, no one’s ever come to me about that. I mean, I don’t exactly look the same anymore. That was 15, almost 20 years ago. Oh my God, I’m old. But I really love that character, but I think… aren’t they doing something now with Fantastic Four?” Although there have been no confirmations yet, there are rumors that Fantastic Four is happening. The producers from Moon Knight have apparently signed on for the new film. Also, it is being heavily rumored that John Krasinski would take on directorial duties. That was fueled by the man appearing as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange 2.

There were plenty of multiverse cameos that occurred, leaving fans to go wild with possibilities of different timeline versions of their favorite heroes appearing. One of the biggest had been Tom Cruise appearing as a different version of Tony Stark. That never came to be, but we did get Krasinski as Reed Richards, Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, and Professor Xavier. Xavier was portrayed by Sir Patrick Stewart, which made everyone happy and all but confirmed mutants in the MCU. We could potentially see an older Chris Evans take on the role of a more seasoned version of Johnny Storm. Evans is clearly excited about the possibility of returning to one of his first superhero roles. Evans had also commented about how he loved playing Captain America, but that Storm never really got his time to shine. That is true considering the Fantastic Four had belonged to Fox before Disney purchased the media conglomerate. Now we might see a proper F4 in the MCU.

Chris Evans is currently voicing Buzz Lightyear, making him transition from one huge Disney franchise to the next. He has also suggested that he would love to be in Star Wars at some point. Though we would love to see him with a lightsaber, it would also be great to see him return to the MCU. Imagine he appears as Johnny Storm, but no one brings it up at all. That would be hilarious. Hopefully, with the multiverse being cracked wide open and presumably taking up most of the storylines for the current MCU continuity, we get to see Evans return along with some fan favorites from other earlier Marvel entries.
