Cameron Diaz spent a good amount of time behind the camera, which led to her retiring for quite some time. Apart from a video short in 2020, Diaz had initially taken a long break back in 2014. However, before she stopped acting, one of her last films in 2014 was a romantic comedy called The Other Woman. In fact, this film was one of her final three before she disappeared from Hollywood for a while. It could be that she has announced her comeback or the film is just good, but The Other Woman is currently dominating the streaming charts. The film is currently in the top five on HBO Max.

The Other Woman boasted quite an impressive cast that includes Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Don Johnson, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Taylor Kinney, and Nicki Minaj. However, the all-star cast is one of the gripes from critics, who gave the film a meager 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences loved the film quite a bit more as the audience rating is at a much higher 57%. The critics claimed that cheap laughs were taken in over a story that was meant to be more empowering. The film made just over $196 million in box office numbers against a budget of $40 million, still making it a success in terms of money made.

The Other Woman follows Carly Whitten (Cameron Diaz) who has started a wild relationship with Mark King (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). After being intimate with one another for a couple of months, Carly believes their relationship is legit, as she wants to introduce him to her father, Frank (Don Johnson). However, after Mark claims he cannot see Carly and her father due to a leak in his home, she shows up anyway in a sexy plumber’s outfit to make him feel better. However, Carly finds out that Mark is married. His wife, Kate (Leslie Mann), answers the door, leaving Carly embarrassed and seeking answers. Kate seeks out Carly at her office, and the pair plan to find out what is really going on with Mark. They know Mark has been cheating on both women, so they investigate further to find out that Mark is dating a third woman named Amber (Kate Upton). The three then band together to ensure that Mark gets what’s coming to him. Without ruining the rest of the films, fans can go check out what happens in this romantic comedy on HBO Max.

Cameron Diaz is no stranger to appearing in great romantic comedies. Two of her best films are There’s Something About Mary and The Sweetest Thing. The Other Woman might be popular based on fans knowing Diaz from past entries and finally being able to see this 2014 entry on streaming sites. Again, this film might be exploding on the streaming charts because Diaz has also just announced that she is returning to acting after a nearly 10-year absence. Jaime Foxx has announced on Twitter, that Diaz was going to be joining him in a Netflix action film called, Back in Action. The plot of the film is currently unknown. Also, her return sparked plenty of interest, as we reported that she is also in talks for a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That is certainly not a bad way to come back into the world of acting. Everyone knows that the MCU turns everyone into a superstar. Not that Diaz needs that, but it’s a nice way to remind everyone how good of an actress she is.

For now, fans are likely heading to HBO Max to watch one of the last films that Cameron Diaz has been in. The Other Woman capped off an impressive career that saw the woman appear in films dating back to 1994. After 20 years of solid work, it’s no surprise that she wanted to take a break. She was in several movies every year since then. That’s not to mention being a key figure in two huge franchises: Charlie’s Angels and Shrek.

Cameron Diaz is returning to acting soon, but everyone can go see why she was such a huge star by checking her out in The Other Woman, which is streaming on HBO Max. While the Rotten Tomatoes score might not be the highest, she still knows how to be hilarious in everything that she does. It’s going to be good to see her return to acting.
