Baby Yoda

He may look cute. He may look innocent. But underneath the big eyes and green smile of Baby Yoda lies an egg-devouring monster. Chapter 10 had The Child sucking down the Frog Lady’s eggs like it was no big deal, as if wiping out a generation of future frog children meant nothing to this heartless creature. To make matters worse, Star Wars is celebrating The Child’s bloodthirsty rampage with an “adorable” toy, meant to wipe out the true horrors that this character has caused.

As part of what is being called Mando Mondays, new Mandalorian-themed items will be released every week online. The products include new toys, collectibles, digital content, and apparel. One such item is a team-up with Funko, entitled “The Child with Egg Canister.” The bobblehead toy shows the moments before Baby Yoda’s massacre. Look at how overjoyed he is at the mere thought of murdering, as his hands reach out for his next victim. Remember back to the time when this soulless barbarian ate his heart’s content, never once thinking about the consequences of his actions.

Baby Yoda Funko
Just disgusting

If you can still stand the sight of this savage devil, Mattel is also releasing a premium plush bundle, which places Baby Yoda in a satchel. His arms, legs, and ears are posable, and by squeezing his hand, The Child will make sounds. Likely, you won’t hear The Child repentant for his crimes against humanity.

If you’re looking for something that doesn’t remind you of Baby Yoda’s heartless slaughter, Mando Mondays has plenty of other merchandise available. Target will be selling a wearable replica electronic helmet just like the one the Mandalorian wears on the show. This is part of Star Wars’ Black Series, which also includes a remnant trooper toy, also available at Target. Star Wars is also teaming up with RSVLTS to release a series of clothes based on The Mandalorian, including a button-down shirt covered in Mandalorian helmets. More products will be made available each Monday.

While the second season of The Mandalorian has only aired two new episodes, the show has already caused quite a bit of excitement beyond Baby Yoda’s monstrous behavior. The first episode “Chapter 9: The Marshal” introduced the Star Wars universe to Timothy Olyphant’s Cobb Vanth, as well as hinted that Boba Fett – or at least his armor – is still around in this universe.

He doesn’t even care.

Also returning for The Mandalorian’s second season, beyond the now-villainous Baby Yoda, is of course Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian himself, Din Djarin. Continuing their stories is also Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Gina Carano as Cara Dune, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, and Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto. There have also been many rumors that this second season might see some characters from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars make an appearance, including the possibility that Rosario Dawson might play Ahsoka Tano, and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze.

But you know who won’t likely be returning this season? The poor souls that Baby Yoda swallowed. If you want this new Baby Yoda toy, that’s fine, just remember what was lost to make such “cuteness” available for you to purchase.
