Rosario Dawson was announced as Star Wars fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano in the second season for the hit Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Everyone has been excited to see how this beloved character would make the transition from animation to live-action, and we have our very first official sneak peek at what the celebrated actress will look like in the role.

The artistic depiction of Ahsoka Tano on the box is clearly derived from Rosario Dawson. Though this is a piece of artwork and not a photographic image of Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, this is the first official look at the live-action version of the character.
Casting Rosario Dawson definitely showcases how seriously the creative forces behind The Mandalorian are taking the character. She was the pivotal character of the highly-acclaimed animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and fans consider her to be one of the best characters in the entire Star Wars canon. With Dawson in the role, fans can be assured that the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano will be given the same weight and importance that the animated version received.
Fans thought they had caught a glimpse of Rosario Dawson in the recent trailer for The Mandalorian‘s second season, but that turned out to be a different character being played by Sasha Banks. It looks like The Mandalorian might be holding off on revealing Ahsoka Tano’s final look. The powers-that-be over at Disney and Lucasfilm have to know that the first reveal of Dawson as Ahsoka Tano will be a huge talking point for the internet. They are likely saving that surprise for the right moment. Maybe it will only be revealed once the episode premieres on Disney+.
It is certainly one more reason to be excited about the second season of The Mandalorian. Rosario Dawson has the opportunity to introduce Ahsoka Tano to another new generation of fans that never watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars. If it all goes off without a hitch, it is possible that Ahsoka Tano could become another important figure for The Mandalorian‘s ongoing story. And more prudently, if Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano is a big hit, Disney will be able to move lots of merchandise with her face on it.
We are extremely happy to get this quick peek at what Rosario Dawson will look like as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian. It gives us something to chew on until we get to see the character in action. How long will that be? At this point, we may not get to see Ahsoka Tano until the finale of The Mandalorian‘s second season. We really hope we don’t have that much longer to wait. This first little tease has us chomping at the bit for more Ahsoka.
