Michael Jackson Continues To Land New Top 10 Hits

We may have lost the King of Pop well over a decade ago, but Michael Jackson continues to keep us moonwalking and grooving to his iconic vocals even into the afterlife.

While the singer’s estate has dropped a handful of posthumous tunes, this time, Jackson is gracing the Billboard charts for his festive holiday tracks as well as an uptick in plays of his classic hit, “Thriller.”

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

While Mariah Carey and Brenda Lee may have been holding onto Billboard domination with their respective hits, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Michael Jackson and the rest of his brothers were giving the gals a run for their money.

The Jackson 5’s holiday bop “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” was a favorite among R&B fans over the last month, grooving its way into the chart’s coveted Top 10 standings.

Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town

Managing to outshine themselves, Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine, and Michael Jackson surpassed their “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” standing with the upbeat, “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town.”

The latter hit nabbed the number seven position on the chart, giving the brothers two spots decades after the songs initially hit the airwaves. With fans back in tune with The Jackson 5, the band’s album, The Jackson 5 Christmas Album, also made moves on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, settling into the number nine place.

Thriller Still A Hit

Rounding out the year on the Billboard charts, Michael Jackson’s estate has the holidays to thank for the renewed interest in the late singer’s most notable songs.

Along with his Christmas takeover, Jackson’s legendary tune “Thriller” found its way back onto the charts over the spooky season.

Aside from “Monster Mash” and “Somebody’s Watching Me,” “Thriller” is the song most likely to be heard blasting at Halloween parties everywhere – making it completely understandable why it took off on the charts around the final days of October.

2023 also saw the celebration and release of the Showtime documentary, Thriller 40, which celebrated all things related to Michael Jackson’s hit-filled album.

Now streaming, the film follows every bit and piece that went into making the project the massive success it was.

Viewers will also hear from those influenced by Jackson and others close to him as they speak about the mark that he left on the industry through his time in The Jackson 5, his work on Thriller, and beyond.

New Year Changes?

As we now head into 2024, the Billboard charts are likely to slow down and be less filled with the songs of the season as the holidays peter out and the reality of the cold, dark winter settles in.

And with that, we can likely bid adieu to Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and Brenda Lee’s chart domination and see what the new year has in store for the music industry.
