After sharing a few outtakes from an official photo shoot, the 41-year-old took a mirror selfie in a red leather dress and black high-heeled boots. Away from social media, Krysten Ritter can be seen as Sherry Cleckler in the true crime drama Love & Death. The limited series, directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and Clark Johnson from a script by David E. Kelley, premiered on MAX in April. The story delves into the intriguing tale of a churchgoing housewife named Candy Montgomery (portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen) in the quiet town of Wylie, Texas.
Candy’s life takes an unexpected turn when she begins an extramarital affair with Allan Gore (played by Jesse Plemons). Despite their contrasting personalities, their shared desire for intimacy leads them to seek solace outside their marriages. However, their ill-fated journey leads to the death of Allan’s wife, Betty Gore, at the hands of an axe-wielding Candy.
Krysten Ritter talked about her involvement in the series with Salon, explaining that she didn’t know about the real-life Candy Montgomery before seeing the script. “I didn’t know anything about this story before. I met with our wonderful director and David E. Kelley and read the scripts,” she said. The Marvel star was shocked that everything was based on actual events.
“I couldn’t believe that it was a true story, and the scripts were so fantastic, and this is an amazing group of actors, group of producers, and I was in immediately,” Krysten Ritter added. She also explained her character’s role in the series. “I play Sherry Cleckler, who is also a real person, Candy Montgomery’s best friend and business partner, and her confidant as she is making some pretty bad decisions.”
Krysten Ritter is also set to star in the Orphan Black spin-off series Orphan Black: Echoes, set within the same universe as its flagship predecessor. The story is set in the near future and follows a group of women whose lives become intertwined as they unravel the mystery of their identities. Along their quest for belonging and purpose, they uncover a heart-wrenching story of love and betrayal.
Orphan Black: Echoes takes a deep dive into how science can manipulate human existence. Krysten Ritter stars as Lucy alongside Amanda Fix in an undisclosed role. The series is created, written, show run, and executive produced by Anna Fishko. Orphan Black creatives David Fortier, and Ivan Schneeberg serve as executive producers, with John Fawcett returning to direct and produce. Katie O’Connell Marsh will executive produce alongside Boat Rocker’s Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard.
