Chloe Bennet has revealed that she was infected with the COVID-19 virus and has been battling the disease. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star revealed the situation on her official Instagram account. She has made it clear that she was taking precautions – wearing a mask and social distancing – but it looks like she was still exposed to the virus in some capacity. She has been at home ever since her diagnosis and will hopefully be able to overcome the virus.
“On Christmas morning I woke up with a high fever, and unable to breathe,” Chloe Bennet said on her Instagram stories. “I got tested, and I’m positive for COVID-19 … it’s been a rough week to say the least. Multiple members of my family are also infected, we’ve all been battling it out together. We’re still not in the clear, but as of now we’re doing…okay.”
Chloe Bennet has mostly been out of the spotlight since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wrapped up its final season back in August of 2020. She does not have any upcoming projects listed on her IMDb page and we have not heard anything about a potential return to her character Skye a.k.a. Quake in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have been eagerly anticipating some kind of larger announcement regarding both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and her character, but it might not be coming down the pipe any time soon or at all.
With all of Marvel Studios’ television efforts now being put under the umbrella of Disney+, it looks like Chloe Bennet might be out of luck as far as being acknowledged by the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. That is a shame considering how many fans became quite attached to her character. Some fans might be a little confused as to why so many prior Marvel shows aren’t being folded into the current plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It all has to do with prior rights issues and other boring legalese, but suffice to say that any Marvel television projects moving forward will be doing everything they can to directly connect to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But that does not mean that it is all said and done for Chloe Bennet. We have reports that Charlie Cox will be coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil. The same could eventually happen with Quake. It all depends on whether or not Marvel wants to incorporate all the lore they attempted to build up over the course of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s seven seasons. They might decide to reset everything and give themselves an out for a lot of this past material. This is especially possible with all we have heard about Marvel going the multiverse route in Phase 4.
We hope we will get to see Chloe Bennet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again. It would be great to hear that she has survived her bout with COVID-19 and that she will be headed back as Quake in some future project. Most importantly, we wish her all the best health and recovery. COVID has affected everyone over this past year and we would love to hear that Bennet is able to make it out of this awfulness in one piece.
