90s Television Star Says She Had A Fling With Ryan Reynolds
Melissa Joan Hart claims she and Ryan Reynolds had a brief romance on the set of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch television movie.
Look out, Blake Lively. According to Comicbook.com, Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart revealed that she and Ryan Reynolds had a brief romance in the 1990’s. In a recent interview on the podcast Hey Dude… The 90’s Called!, hosted by Hey Dude stars Christine Taylor and David Lascher, fans were made privy to Hart’s romance with the Deadpool star.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch cast its spell on audiences for seven seasons, but the series was kicked off with a TV movie. Melissa Joan Hart and Ryan Reynolds made their connection on the set of that movie. “We were smitten and cute. He was adorable. He was a really nice guy,” Hart said in a 2017 interview.
At the time, Hart was a bigger star than Ryan Reynolds. She had wrapped up five seasons as the lead of Nickelodeon’s Clarissa Explains It All, and was about to anchor another hit sitcom. Reynolds had not yet broken out, and according to Hart, he was much different than the snarky Ryan Reynolds the world knows and loves today. “He was sweet — he was very sweet,” Hart explained.
Ryan Reynolds today may be lovable, but his R-rated antics would hardly be described as sweet. The actor is best known for ruthless sarcasm, which is on full display in his role as the Marvel anti-hero Deadpool. In simpler times, before stardom swept Reynolds toward fame and fortune, the young actor was bewitched by the teenage witch herself.
Since then, the roles have reversed for Ryan Reynolds and Mellisa Joan Hart. The mid-90s and early 2000s marked the high point of Hart’s career; in addition to Sabrina, she lent her voice to animated projects like Superman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Since then, she has become a queen of Christmas TV films and has made special appearances on several TV shows.

As for Melissa Joan Hart, the actress is rumored to return to an iconic role for a reboot of her 90’s series Clarissa Explains It All. She most recently starred in last year’s Lifetime movie Dirty Little Secret and the Nickelodeon animated series The Casagrandes.
