It might not be a portal to the Upside Down, but now you can own the famous Byers house from the Netflix smash hit Stranger Things. The home just hit the market and is being listed by Michael Smith of EXP Realty, LLC. To snag this iconic TV property, you’ll have to pony up the starting price of $300,000.

The home was featured heavily in the first season of Stranger Things as the home of the Byers family, including Joyce (Winona Ryder), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Will (Noah Schnapp). Though the Byers family has since abandoned the home in subsequent seasons, fans will remember the iconic scene where Will communicated through the Upside Down using the Christmas lights on the wall.

This house actually seems like it may be the version found in the Upside Down as, despite the fairly hefty price tag, it’s in need of a full rehab.

With that being said, it seems like the right buyer might jump at the chance to own a house from Stranger Things. Whether you’re a big fan or a savvy investor, there’s definitely potential to turn it around and make it worth even more if someone is willing to put in the time. Who knows, someone who is in the rental game could turn it into a perfect Airbnb, theming the house to match the Netflix show with Christmas lights and letters on the wall to tie it all together.

If you do decide to live in the Stranger Things house, it looks like you better be fine with the occasional lookie-loo. According to the listing, the owners have had to put up signs and barricades to deter fans from visiting the location. It might be a good way to bring in tourists, but it certainly seems like it would be annoying to live there.

This wouldn’t be the first time a TV show caused the owners distress — the house from Breaking Bad is another example. The owners didn’t mind the fans stopping by for a photo op at first. However, when people started recreating the pizza scene from the show, that quickly became a different story as the owner told NPR.

The popularity of the house should only ramp up in the near future, as Stranger Things is gearing up for its fifth and final season. The fourth season of the show was a monster hit for Netflix, even helping to stop the subscribers the platform was hemorrhaging at the beginning of the year.

Along with racking up hundreds of millions of viewing hours, the season produced tons of memes, shot classic songs like “Master of Puppets” and “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) up the charts, and inspired a viral TikTok song.

It remains to be seen if Stranger Things can keep that momentum going into the final season, but it seems likely that every fan will be ready for one last battle against Vecna and the Mind Flayer. There’s no release date yet for the new season, but we definitely won’t have to wait as long as the hiatus between Season 3 and 4. We’ll likely be seeing it sometime in 2023 or even in 2024.
