Peacemaker himself, John Cena, now knows who his opposition is in the upcoming hybrid animated/live-action feature Coyote Vs Acme. The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Saturday Night Live alumni Will Forte will be representing Wile E. Coyote in court when the film hits cinemas next summer. The David Green helmed movie is based on the New Yorker article of the same name by Ian Frazier.

John Cena’s involvement in Coyote Vs Acme was announced last month. The film is set to feature the popular Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote as he takes the Acme to court for various damages. Acme, of course, is the mysterious company that provide Wile E. Coyote with his arsenal of gadgets and weapons with the aim of destroying his arch-nemesis the Road Runner. In the film, Wile E. Coyote will be represented by a down on his luck lawyer, who is devasted to learn that Acme is being represented by his formidable former boss, John Cena. That down on his luck lawyer will be portrayed by Will Forte.

Will Forte is of course well known for his time on Saturday Night Live, where he featured for some ten years. In his time on SNL, Forte had many iconic characters, including MacGruber, a satirical take on eighties action heroes. MacGruber spawned both a 2010 movie and a TV series revival last year on Peacock. Another role that has gained Will Forte significant praise is his lead in the Fox comedy The Last Man on Earth. The show earned Forted three Emmy Nominations, one for writing and two for acting. Forte also has experience working on animated features for Warner Bros, having recently appeared as Shaggy in Scooby-Doo: A New Universe. Now he gets to take on John Cena in the courtroom, which will undoubtedly lead to some hilarious results.

Also joining Will Forte and John Cena in Coyote Vs. Acme will be Netflix star, Lana Condor. Lana Condor is best known for her leading role in the Netflix To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy and will now be joining the Looney Tunes universe along with Cena and Forte. Producer of Coyote Vs. Acme James Gunn took to Twitter to welcome both Will Forte and Lana Condor to the project, along with Cena.

Coyote Vs. Acme marks another Warner Bros collaboration for James Gunn and John Cena after The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. On his involvement in this latest project, Cena had some positive words to say when he spoke with Entertainment Weekly; “Man, I’m very fortunate because it’s a different role for me, so I can’t wait… A lot of audience members have a different perspective of what I can offer and that’s a really tough hill to climb. Acme vs. Coyote is one of those situations. I’m really happy that Warner Bros. gave me another opportunity to be involved with something that.” John Cena and James Gunn have proved a winning pair thus far for Warner Bros, and by adding a Netflix superstar in Lana Condor and a comedy fan favourite in Will Forte as a lead, Coyote Vs. Acme looks set to be a hit. Cena will be clashing with Lana Condor and Will Forte in the courtroom when Coyote Vs. Acme hits cinema screens on July 21st, 2023. Joining James Gunn as a producer is Chris DeFaria, with David Green directing and Samy Burch penning the screenplay.
