Just when game crossovers couldn't get weirder, an oddball character from the deep history of Microsoft has been added to Halo Infinite.

Microsoft is the designer behind the Xbox, and as such, this means that any number of characters under the umbrella of the company could theoretically pop into any number of games that the company has its hands on. However, Microsoft decided to add arguably the most annoying of its characters to Halo Infinite. In one of the most bizarre crossovers in gaming history, it appears as if Clippy has been added to the first-person shooter. You can see an image of the addition below:

Clippy has been added to the game in the form of a nameplate, and a gun charm that can be added as part of the Halo Infinite customization options for players Spartans. Why Microsoft decided to do this is beyond what we can comprehend. Honestly, it is hilarious though. Clippy is easily one of the most annoying functions that the old Microsoft Office platforms had. This paperclip would pop in and hound everyone with questions constantly. It was more of a nuisance than a helper of any kind. James Shields is an Xbox senior product manager, and he gave everyone the first look at the hilarious addition. You can see an image of the gun charm below:

There has been no word yet if Clippy will be part of the expansive battle pass in Halo Infinite, or if it will have to be purchased separately. All we know is that Microsoft is truly trolling everyone with this addition. Then again, adding Clippy to your gun could be part of some mental warfare. That character is infuriatingly annoying, so imagine being killed by a gun that proudly displays his bulbous eyes. We would be mad too. Another thing of note is that there are A.I. helpers in the game, and if Clippy is also added to that, then Microsoft wins the day. It would be even more hilarious if Clippy popped in at random during games to throw people off. Now that would be the best use of this weird addition. As they say, “go big or go home.”

Clippy is joining many additions to the Halo Infinite Season 2 expansion. This expansion is adding a battle pass, map, new modes, and much more Some of the new modes added to Halo Infinite is King of the Hill, Elimination, and Last Spartan Standing. All these modes and Clippy can be accessed right now, as the second season of the multiplayer experience launched on May 3rd.

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game may have had some issues in regard to the multiplayer launch, but it seems as if things are going a lot smoother for Microsoft. Smooth enough to allow players to disrespect other players with the usage of Clippy on their guns. Seriously though, the next big idea should be that Clippy can interject at any moment during a multiplayer game. Microsoft, if you are reading this, make it happen. Also, don’t forget about us if you do plan to do that. We can split the profits.
