Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again series star Vincent D’Onofrio has deleted his X (formerly known as Twitter) account due to ongoing controversies surrounding the show. In an article via ComicBook, D’Onofrio chose to delete his X account due to frustrations regarding the social backlash stirred up over the reboot of Daredevil.

One post by the talented actor laid out a tame argument between Vincent D’Onofrio regarding a comment he made about his excitement after filming a scene from the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s frustration with the backlash to Daredevil: Born Again, and dealing with fans, has caused the star to leave X.

The user stated that the comment “aged poorly.” D’Onofrio answered with a frustrating tone, telling the user that they don’t know what’s going on and they shouldn’t comment about things they don’t know. He said for his followers to “have some trust” that they were working to create the best show possible.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to be a reboot of the original Disney+ series, Daredevil. Bringing back the same lead characters, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Charlie Cox as Daredevil, and Jon Bernthal as Punisher, the studio claims that they are taking the show in another direction entirely so as to avoid the playout becoming too silly and light-hearted.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s return to Daredevil: Born Again as Kingpin places him in a tough position in the eyes of Daredevil fans.

However, Daredevil showrunner Stephen DeKnight took to social media to exclaim that the changing of the name of the show is just a common Disney scam that allows the company to pay the actors and writers less to produce an already established series. Pay grades start over at the season one level when the studio changes the name of the show, and Disney discarded DeKnight when the title shift occurred.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s return to Daredevil: Born Again as Kingpin places him in a tough position in the eyes of Daredevil fans. With the stress of filming a “different” show, the ongoing strikes among actors in Hollywood, and the pressure of fans on social media, D’Onofrio has had enough.

Fans will have to keep waiting for Vincent D’Onofrio’s return performance as Kingpin since Daredevil: Born Again production is stalled during the SAF-AFTRA strike.

He completely deleted his X account and set his Instagram account to private. Only those approved by his team can now interact with the actor on Instagram (which he has also openly talked about deleting). Maybe a social media fast is just what the doctor ordered?

As for Vincent D’Onofrio’s appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, it will be a while before anyone sees what the new show has in store. The show may be in danger of being permanently shelved due to all the surrounding controversy. Born Again production was shut down even prior to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, and it is now reportedly on hold completely until after the strikes have ended. Between the strikes and all of the inside personnel swaps/issues, it will be a tough road ahead for the new series.

In the meantime, you can catch up on the show’s previous adventures by watching Charlie Cox in the leading role of Daredevil, streaming on Disney+ with a subscription. You can watch all 39 episodes of the first three seasons of the show and get a better understanding of all the hype surrounding Vincent D’Onofrio and the Daredevil: Born Again reboot series.
