Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have seen some excellent films come out of the superhero based world. Between the success of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Panther, we’ve also had the fan (and personal) favorite, Thor: Ragnarok. With a dynamite cast ranging from the obvious Chris Hemsworth to newcomers Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, and Tessa Thompson, director and featured actor, Taika Waititi, had his hands full of immeasurable talent mixed with a smart, witty, and well written script. It’s been five years since the events of Thor: Ragnarok unfolded and, while we’ve seen the God of Thunder in the aforementioned Infinity War and Endgame, we haven’t heard very much surrounding the plot of the next Thor installment, Thor: Love and Thunder.

In an interview with the podcast The Discourse, Love and Thunder director, Taika Waititi said the new film may end his career. Referring to the upcoming feature, which has *hopefully* settled on a July 8th release, Waititi said it was the “craziest” project that he has ever worked on. Without giving any details away, he spoke to the “elements” of the upcoming movie, commenting, “it shouldn’t make sense.” He even added that Love and Thunder “shouldn’t be made” and that along with the plot being a little out there, the name alone would typically be a dead end in Hollywood. Hopefully not jinxing himself, Waititi stated “I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.” As far as the differences between Ragnarok and Love and Thunder, Waititi assured fans they can expect a similar “energy and intention” with the new flick.

While, as we mentioned at the top, we don’t know much about what turns Love and Thunder will take, Taika Waititi’s comments made us a mixture of excited and intrigued. Anticipation is another word we would use for the upcoming film as we know that Thor will put down Mjolnir, or rather pass it to Jane (Natalie Portman), something that is certainly going to change the course of the films. We can also count on an incredible cast of A list talent to bring the world surrounding the God of Thunder to life. Along with Hemsworth and Portman, starring in the upcoming feature are Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel. With so many Guardians of the Galaxy in there, we can expect more witty banter being tossed around by the whole gang. Speaking of witty banter, Waititi also served the film as a co-writer alongside Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, so we are definitely going to be in for some very smart and quick writing which is great to know.

Will Thor: Love and Thunder really ruin Taika Waititi’s career? Our money is on no way. Known for his part behind hits including What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit, and, most recently, Our Flag Means Death, Waititi’s name is synonymous with rib busting pieces featuring a side of deep reflection. So, for now don’t worry – we are thinking Thor: Love and Thunder will only further the director’s career.
