The team is coming together! After weeks of casting rumors and speculation, Marvel Studios has finally cast another roles in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It seems as if Marvel had a hard time trying to find the right actor to play the role of Drax the Destroyer, but now they have found the perfect fit. Former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista will play the reincarnated, revenge-seeking warrior in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The news comes via THR, but it’s unclear how many movies Bautista will appear in as Drax. He is said to have impressed the studio with his physicality. Actor Jason Momoa was also rumored for the role, but ultimately couldn’t come to terms with the studio.

Drax was once known as Arthur Douglas, a human whose family was attacked and killed by the super-villain Thanos. The being known as Kronos took Arthur Douglas’ soul and placed it in a new body to create Drax the Destroyer so he could defeat and kill his grandson, Thanos. Drax’s superpowers include enhanced strength and resilience, flight, and the ability to project energy blasts. According to director James Gunn, Arthur Douglas’ rebirth as Drax the Destroyer will be modified and updated for the feature film.

Dave Bautista will join Chris Pratt, who was cast a few weeks ago to play the Guardians’ leader, Star-Lord, in the Marvel team-up movie. This only leaves three more roles to be filled: Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and the treelike alien Groot.

Principal photography begins on Guardians of the Galaxy this summer for the movie’s slated August 1, 2014 release date.
