Margot Robbie Being Mocked For How She Looks Without Makeup

Ahhh, incels — will they ever learn? A Twitter user recently posted a picture of Barbie star Margot Robbie without makeup and subsequently called her “mid,” causing the post to get a lot of attention (despite her looking essentially the same in the makeup-free picture.) Of course, the user got what they wanted, which was a bunch of attention and responses.

A Twitter user mocked Margot Robbie for her lack of makeup, but the tide quickly turned.

In the few seconds it took this user to make the Margot Robbie post, he handily set himself up for plenty of well-deserved roasting from fellow Twitter users.

One user observed, “If she is mid then you’re a 1,” with another user adding, “You calling her mid is ironic in so many ways.” That sort of back-and-forth went on for a while, with the user continuing to post troll-like responses, so it seems likely this was all to get a reaction.

It certainly worked, as the Tweet continues to gain more traction. Of course, Margot Robbie is probably used to people arguing about her online, so she likely won’t ever be aware this debate is even happening. Especially since her biggest blockbuster of the year is just a week away from hitting theaters.

Margot Robbie is leading the highly-anticipated Barbie, which will be in theaters on July 21. Robbie plays the titular doll, who ends up on a journey to the real world along with Ken (Ryan Gosling). Oscar-nominated director and writer Greta Gerwig directed the film and co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach.

Barbie is set to be one of the biggest movies of the year and has a star-studded cast alongside Margot Robbie. Joining Robbie and Gosling are America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Sharon Rooney, Dua Lipa, Nicole Coughlan, and Ana Cruz Kayne.

And that’s far from all seeing as how Ritu Arya, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Emerald Fennell, Michael Cera, and Ariana Greenblatt are in on the action too. The film is set to be a financial smash, with opening weekend predictions recently climbing as high as $93 million.

Barbie‘s $93 million projection is nearly double that of fellow July 21 film release Oppenheimer, which is projected to open to the tune of $40 to $50 million. Still, the Margot Robbie-led film and the Christopher Nolan biopic don’t necessarily have to compete, as many people are excitedly planning a “Barbieheimer” double feature to see both films. Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy even recently said that he’ll be checking out Barbie.

Despite Barbie being such a massive film, we likely won’t be seeing Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling on the marketing trail anymore for the film since SAG-AFTRA, of which the vast majority of actors are a member, recently announced it would be joining the WGA on strike.

The stars of Oppenheimer recently walked out of the London premiere of the film in solidarity with the strike. Robbie and the rest of the cast and crew already had a London and Hollywood premiere for Barbie, though, so that won’t factor into the strike.

Margot and Robbie have already done plenty of promotion for Barbie before now, so there should be plenty of turnouts regardless. Ditto for Oppenheimer. You can check out both films when they hit theaters on July 21.
