Kevin Costner Finds Director For His Longtime Passion Project

Although he’s reaching the end of his 60s, Kevin Costner is not slowing down. After leaving the critically acclaimed series Yellowstone to write, direct, and star in a two-part Civil War epic, Costner is already onto his next project. The acclaimed Academy Award winner just announced his partnership with director Ariel Vromen for an unnamed upcoming feature film described as his “longtime passion project.”

One Passion Project Complete, Another Started

Following his extensive work on the two-part Civil War saga Horizon: An American Saga for Warner Bros and New Line, Kevin Costner is moving on to the next project in the pipeline. Vromen, expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stated, “I could not be more honored to be reunited with my friend and collaborator, especially on Kevin’s longtime passion project.”

Costner Reuniting With The Director

While specific details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, production for the film is slated to commence in early 2025. This marks the second collaboration between Kevin Costner and Ariel Vromen, the first being the 2016 action thriller Criminal, which also featured Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones. The new project will not only see Costner produce the feature but also see him star as the leading actor.

The announcement comes amidst anticipation for new projects from Kevin Costner and Ariel Vromen. Vromen’s latest work is an action-thriller titled 1992. It’s a drama centered on the 1992 Los Angeles riots, set to be distributed by Lionsgate, starring Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, and the late Ray Liotta.

Meanwhile, Kevin Costner’s Horizon saga is scheduled to be released this summer. Costner is breaking the mold for his new film series, as both parts one and two will hit the silver screen before this fall. Horizon: An American Saga releases on June 28 while Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 will be in theaters on August 16, just seven weeks later.
