With his candid responses on Twitter, fans can learn a lot about what is going on with any movie James Gunn is working on. Twitter user Big Screen Leaks had a rumor that Mark Hamill will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which the director shut down.

One user tagged James Gunn waiting for him to confirm or deny the possibility of seeing the legendary Star Wars actor have a role in the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Another posted a GIF of Seth Myers saying, “that definitely sounds like a made-up story.” That is where the filmmaker came in to say, “sounds like and is.”

Mark Hamill never made a tease about collaborating with the cosmic group of misfits. It was misunderstood as he made a reply to a tweet by James Gunn. The director posted that he wrapped the script for the Holiday Special for the Guardians. In response, the actor said that he has a “very bad feeling about this,” referring to the Star Wars Holiday Special that is widely hated across the board.

Despite this latest rumor being shot down, it does not mean we are in the dark for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It will mark Dave Bautista’s final go as Drax the Destroyer as he is getting older and is looking for other work outside of Marvel. We will learn more about Rocket’s background, and everything set already is what has been planned for the raccoon. Earlier this month, James Gunn described the next movie to Entertainment Weekly as a “heavier story” compared to the others, which says a lot as he always packs an emotional punch with character deaths.

Marvel Studios will pepper the slate of Guardians of the Galaxy movies and shows throughout the coming years. James Gunn will deliver fans The Holiday Special in 2022 on Disney Plus, Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 23, 2023, and some time in the future will be a series of shorts on Disney Plus with I Am Groot.

In the meantime, James Gunn will deliver his next movie with The Suicide Squad, which is set to release in theaters, and on HBO Max on August 6, which will be the most freedom he has ever had on a project. Scratching the surface of his star-studded R rated comic book movie will feature Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), Idris Elba (Luther), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Nathan Fillian (Castle), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), and many, many more notable names.

Marking his directorial debut in 2006 was with the horror-comedy Slither, starring Nathan Fillian, Michael Rooker, and Elizabeth Banks (Scrubs, 30 Rock). Two years later, James Gunn and his brothers Brian and Sean teamed up to do a comedy series called PG Porn. In the past, he wrote movies like Zach Snyder’s 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead and the live-action Scooby-Doo movies from the early 2000s. His career blew up when entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first Guardians of the Galaxy.
