The success of multiple Marvel series on Disney+ is bound to lead to a lot more stories on the streaming service. This gives Marvel more room to explore some of the stories that haven’t made it into feature films yet, or that just don’t make sense in a movie. Some stories are better told in a serial format. This is true for a lot of stories found in the vaults of Marvel comics. We’ve recently learned of one such story from a trusted and proven inside source for Giant Freakin Robot. One of the shows currently in development that Marvel has yet to announce is a Secret Warriors series.

A Secret Warriors series is an exciting next step for the storyline and something that will be great to see explored in a show. It’s possible that the new series will be a follow-up project to the Secret Invasion series that is on the way, though we weren’t able to confirm which group of Secret Warriors Marvel has in mind for this new series. Starting in 2008, the group had more than one team make up over the years.

The Secret Warriors team was first introduced in the Marvel comics in Mighty Avengers, during a Secret Invasion tie-in event, and then appeared in Secret Invasion. As they move forward with this project, there’s a lot of opportunity for what they might do. Captain Marvel shows up a lot in Secret Warriors stories, so an appearance by Brie Larson is a strong possibility.

It’s also likely that this series will introduce a lot of new characters to the screen. We were unable to confirm what team specifically they are using, or if they’ve committed to a character list yet. They could easily take the concept of a Secret Warriors team and compile a brand new character list based on where they want the Marvel universe to go moving forward. It would make sense to use the team as it was established in 2008, since that ties into Secret Invasion. This would mean seeing characters like Nick Fury. Samuel L. Jackson is currently appearing in the Secret Invasion series, so this is entirely possible.

A character we really should be seeing is Quake. Quake, also known as Daisy Johnson, was played by Chloe Bennet in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the 2008 comics storyline, she joins up with Nick Fury, Stonewall, Slingshot, Manifold, Druid, Hellfire, and Phobos to form the Secret Warriors. In a 2017 comics run, Quake is the captain of a team of Secret Warriors that consists of Ms. Marvel, Luna Lafayette and Devil Dinosaur, Inferno, and Karnak. In 2018, we saw an animated movie called Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, and that included Quake and Ms. Marvel with Squirrel Girl, America Chavez, Patriot, Inferno, Exile, Captain Marvel, and Hala. The pattern we’re establishing here is that Quake is pretty central to the Secret Warriors so there’s a lot of hope that Marvel will be establishing her in this series.

Does that mean Marvel will cast Chloe Bennet as Quake for Secret Invasion? That seems highly likely, but we were unable to confirm that with our sources. Chloe Bennet returned to voice Quake for the animated movie. She seems to enjoy the character and has a standing relationship with Marvel. This could be complex, since signs point to the belief that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, which starred Chloe Bennet as Quake, is no longer part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe story. However, there have been many stories out there saying that Marvel plans to reboot Quake’s character and have her in upcoming projects. When they make Secret Warriors, it seems like her character will have to be a part of that. Hopefully, they’ll have Chloe Bennet on board to play the character again as they establish the Secret Warriors team for this new Disney+ series.
