Pierce Brosnan is about to join the DC Extended Universe next summer as a major piece in what could be the year’s biggest blockbuster. But why stop at just one superhero franchise when there are plenty to go around? That could the case with Brosnan who might be joining the other major studio in this space. Giant Freakin Robot has the exclusive from our trusted and proven source that Brosnan is currently in talks with Marvel to join that universe. But this time he’d be in line to play a villain in a major production. He could be going good guy/ bad guy in his comic book arcs.

Details about who Pierce Brosnan could be playing aren’t quite clear as of this writing. The word is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wants to add him as a villain and, as we know, that can take a lot of different shapes. Marvel is still very much in growth mode, adding both movies and series to their catalog. Brosnan could show up almost anywhere in this respect. But considering his fame and talent, it would make sense to have him a villain on the movie side of things with the potential that we see multiple appearances in the franchise.

The growth and popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has meant huge names taking on antagonist roles for different productions with the headlining names not always necessarily the heroes in the story. Pierce Brosnan could fit right in from this perspective. Christian Bale is playing Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, Jonathan Majors will play Kang the Conqueror across multiple productions, Ethan Hawke is taking on the antagonist role in the upcoming Moonknight series and there are many more. These are such star-studded productions that they’ve been able to attract some of the biggest names out there to play the villains. It’s been that way for years for Marvel.

Meanwhile, Pierce Brosnan can consider a Marvel villain role because he’s already got a hero turn coming in a DC Extended Universe production. That’s going to be in next summer’s Black Adam which will introduce Dwayne Johnson as the titular hero. The movie is set to take a more violent and darker approach than previous DC films (Suicide Squad notwithstanding) and will have Johnson’s Black Adam playing more of an antihero to start. Brosnan is in the role of Doctor Fate, the leader of the Justice Society of America. He and his group will intersect with Black Adam during the course of the film.

Joining Pierce Brosnan in the Justice Society of America in Black Adam are a few other notables. There’s Aldis Hodge playing Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. That movie could be one of next summer’s biggest hits with Johnson’s stardom likely to fuel massive ticket sales. In terms of Brosnan joining the Marvel Universe as well, we will have to wait for more details on how that will take shape. With so many Marvel stories coming down the pike, the possibilities are all over the place.
