Even though the conception of a live-action adaptation of DC’s Black Adam took more than 10 years to become a reality, now that it’s finally happening it is marching on ahead at full steam ever since filming began in Atlanta, Georgia, in April this year. And while Marvel has been maintaining its usual secrecy and keeping details about the film under tight wraps, Dwayne Johnson has been treating his fans with little tidbits of info about the ongoing shooting of Black Adam. And the recent reveal includes his post sharing his supremely muscular physique for the film and the intense hard work that he has put into achieving the same.

In his recent Instagram post (click the link to see the photo), Dwayne Johnson has shared a picture of himself in the gym late at night where he is flaunting his jaw-dropping muscular frame that is a result of some extremely hard dieting, training, and conditioning. He admits that he has never worked so hard before in his career for any other role. Currently, his rigorous dieting and exercise schedule is in preparation for shooting the “champion” scenes in Black Adam wherein Johnson will be seen shirtless. Given that the Jumanji star is going to portray an antihero possessing divine powers, it’s only fitting that he looks the part too!

In his post, Dwayne Johnson also explained his training strategy that includes manipulating his electrolytes, doing more intense cardio,  and push-and-pull real iron so as to get the “dense, dry, detailed muscle” physique needed for his titular role in Black Adam. He gave the credit of his intense training schedule and its fruitful results to his strength and conditioning coach Dave Renzi.

This new update on Dwayne Johnson’s preparations for the upcoming DC film comes weeks after he shared the first look of sorts of his Black Adam costume (though he remained cloaked and in the shadows). Previously, he had also shared a teeny-tiny peek at what his superhero costume really looks like. A full disclosure of his costume before the trailer is dropped is only possible if Marvel officially reveals it or some diligent DC fan stealthily manages to capture an image of the actor shooting the film while in costume. That’s how MCU fans got their first look at Iman Vellani’s superhero costume in the upcoming Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel.

Black Adam is not the only DC project that Dwayne Johnson is attached to as it was recently announced that the actor is going to voice DC canine Krypto the Superdog, Superman’s pet dog, in Warner Bros.’ upcoming animated feature DC League of Super-Pets. His production company Seven Bucks will also be producing the film along with Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, James Stern, and Patricia Hicks. The rest of the cast is yet to announced as other A-list actors are currently in discussions with Warner Bros. for the other roles in the film.

Directed by Sam Levine, DC League of Super-Pets will be released on May 20, 2022, while Black Adam, the spin-off of 2019’s Shazam!, is currently scheduled to debut across theaters in the United States on July 29, 2022.
