Time is ticking for Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy and the rest of his team to come up with a suitable name for the third installment in the Ryan Reynolds-led franchise. The film crashes into theaters on July 26, 2024, and has just been given a new title for distribution purposes.
Untitled Deadpool Movie
While Levy’s wheels spin on what the most suitable name for Deadpool and Wolverine’s feature-length team-up will be, Disney (as per Comic Book Movie) has changed it to (drum roll, please): Untitled Deadpool Movie.
Certainly, a hop, skip, and a jump from the titles that have come from the spitballing sessions that Levy and the others have had, Untitled Deadpool Movie does have a certain ring to it.
Of course, we’re only joking, as we can’t wait to hear what the true title for Deadpool 3 will be when the production team gets it together.
Possible Deadpool 3 Titles
As Comic Book Movie reminded us, Levy has already been tossing some ideas around, previously teasing audiences with ideas that include “Deadpool vs Wolverine” or even “Deadpool 3 With Wolvie”. Unfortunately, none of those have fully stuck.
But, we’ll cut the busy bees behind Deadpool 3 a break as the film is still doing its thing with cameras rolling in London. On top of that, they’ve needed to handle the ongoing prying eyes of the public, who have been snapping photo after photo of spoilers and posting them on the internet for the world to see.
Ryan Reynolds Trolling
Ryan Reynolds, the man behind the red mask, even took things into his own hands, posting a plea to his Instagram in an attempt to strike a soft spot with the paparazzi, asking them to please stop ruining the years of hard work with a tap of the iPhone.
A troll in his own right, Ryan Reynolds clapped back at the sneaky snappers, sharing some heavily doctored photos putting Deadpool and Wolverine in some silly situations with other members of the filming crew.
Known for having a sarcastic sense of humor, it should shock no one that this is how the Deadpool 3 star decided to handle the problem.
Deadpool 3 Plot Details
As for Deadpool 3 (or Untitled Deadpool Movie – a symphony to our ears), the film will likely follow in the path of the last two films, featuring Reynolds as the masked hero with a penchant for wisecracks and inappropriate comments.
While plot details haven’t been released, we know that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine, meaning the pair will either work together or against one another during the film.
However, it’s more likely that they’ll put their differences aside as we also know that The Crown star, Emma Corrin, has signed on to appear as the main antagonist.
Jennifer Garner’s Elektra?
The film also features one other perplexing appearance as Jennifer Garner is coming back as fellow hero Elektra, a part that she played in the early 2000s films, Daredevil and Elektra.
Seeing her back in action in Deadpool 3 will be an exciting one – especially for audiences of a certain age who remember seeing Garner wielding sais on the big screen two decades ago.
Reprising their roles in Deadpool 3 are Rob Delaney as Peter, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.
With the heat turned up for Levy to throw an official title on Deadpool 3, we’ll keep you posted on where he lands.
