If you’re a fan of Greek mythology, especially alternate retellings, then the animated series Blood of Zeus on Netflix might be perfect for you. Animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios, the same studio that handled the Netflix Castlevania shows, the show looks beautiful and has a compelling storyline featuring an original character added to Greek myth for the show.

You can stream the entire first and recently released second season on Netflix now.

Blood of Zeus On Netflix

Blood of Zeus is created and written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides and follows Heron, a demigod son of Zeus who discovers his origin and has to prove himself to Olympus while also helping to save humanity and the gods from a growing threat.

As mentioned, Heron isn’t someone you’ll find in classical Greek myth, but the show paints this story as a tale “lost to history” during the prologue.

It allows the writers to take an interesting angle when portraying well-known characters like the gods, titans, and creatures from the Greek myth we’re familiar with.

Familiar Greek Characters

Along with Heron, Blood of Zeus has familiar favorite Greek characters like Zeus, Heron, Apollo, Artemis, Hephaestus, Ares, Hades, Poseidon, Hermes, and more.

The characters are brought to life with a solid voice cast that includes Derek Philips, Jason O’Mara, Claudia Christian, Elias Toufexis, Chris  Diamantopolous, Mamie Gummer, Jessica Kenwick, Matthew Mercer, Jennifer Hale, and Fred Tatasciore.

While the whole cast is great, Elias Toufexis is a stand-out as Seraphim, who is another original character and antagonist to Heron with a tragic backstory.

Solid Reception

The first season of Blood of Zeus got solid reviews, especially for its animation and performances. The second season is getting great reviews so far, too, so it seems like fans of the first won’t be disappointed by the second outing.

If you haven’t checked out the show at all yet, the first season is definitely good enough to get you hooked, though your mileage may vary depending on how much you care about Greek mythology and Greek myth-focused stories.

Ending On An Epic Note

Season 1 of Blood of Zeus ended on an epic note that saw the Giants marching on Mount Olympus to face the gods in a massive battle. The finale also saw Heron and Seraphim face off in an epic fight while wrapping things up on a note that left fans ready to see what would happen next season.

Season 2 picks up right where the first season left off, so those who are watching for the first time will have plenty of content to binge through.

Climbing The Netflix Charts

Right now, Blood of Zeus is tearing up the Netflix charts and even cracked the Top 10 on the streamer. This shows that fans have been waiting patiently for its return, considering the first season released way back in 2020.

You might think that the four-year gap between seasons would have possibly led to a less impressive outing for the second season, but it seems that the show is as popular as ever.

Streaming Blood Of Zeus
