Actor and James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has pleaded not guilty to charges of illegally entering the protected thermal area of Yellowstone National Park.

Brosnan was set to appear in court for the charges on January 23. But a Wyoming judge granted his request for a virtual hearing on February 20.

Pierce Brosnan’s Alleged Infractions

Brosnan faces two alleged infractions – one for walking into the restricted thermal area and another for walking into Mammoth Terraces, which features numerous hot springs and thermal features.

If Pierce Brosnan did wander into these restricted areas in Yellowstone National Park, he was certainly flirting with some James Bond-level danger.

These hot springs can reach temperatures up to 175 degrees Fahrenheit, and people have died from burns due to the water in the geysers and springs.

While the restrictions are there for people’s protection, the unique topography in the park is also very delicate and can easily be damaged by tourists walking on the grounds.

Caught On Instagram

Pierce Brosnan was charged with these infractions after an Instagram account dedicated to making fun of Yellowstone tourists posted a picture of what appeared to be the actor posing by the springs.

While the actor has pleaded not guilty to these charges, he has not made public comments to publications about the alleged incidents. We’ll have to wait and see how the court hearing pans out to find out if Brosnan was indeed guilty.

Jailtime And Fine?

If Pierce Brosnan is found guilty of these infractions, he would be far from the first.

Millions of tourists visit Yellowstone National Park, and some inevitably break the federal rules that are set for the park’s protection and visitor safety.

The rules of the thermal areas require visitors to keep to the designated walkways. Those who violate these fuels could face up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.

The Unholy Trinity

Whether Pierce Brosnan was in the picture or not, he undoubtedly has had some downtime to explore Yellowstone National Park while he films his upcoming movie.

Brosnan has been busy with production on the film The Unholy Trinity, which has been filming in Montana.

Montana is one of three states that the park is scattered across, with the majority of the park being in Wyoming.

Working With Samuel L. Jackson

Pierce Brosnan’s The Unholy Trinity is an upcoming Western film that follows a man (Brandon Lessard) in 1870s Montana who receives a task from his estranged father moments before his execution – hunt down the man who framed him.

His quest for revenge leads him to a small town where he quickly becomes caught up in a conflict between the town’s new sheriff (Brosnan) and a mysterious stranger (Samuel L Jackson).

The Richard Gray-directed film was able to snag a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement during the strikes, so production has not been slowed on the film.
