When it comes to their kids, some celebrities walk a fine line between keeping them out of the spotlight and sharing their lives with the world. In the social media age, that’s easier said than done, especially since their kids may grow up to create social media accounts of their own once they get to high school anyway — if their parents let them, of course. But there are times when some of Hollywood’s finest loosen up on their self-imposed “no posting kids’ photos on social media” policy and share one of the greatest moments of their lives with their fans. Julia Roberts is one such celebrity parent, and she shared a rare photo of her twins in celebration of their 17th birthday.
Julia Roberts took to Instagram over the weekend to post a rare photo of her and her fraternal twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus Moder, as newborns to mark the milestone. The Runaway Bride star captioned the photo, which features the then 37-year-old actress snuggling up with her sleepy babies, with “17 of the Sweetest years of life” along with a series of birthday cake emojis. The twins were born on November 28, 2004. The 54-year-old actress shares the twins with her cinematographer husband Danny Moder.
Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts’ equally famous niece, commented on the throwback photo with three heart emojis. The picture has garnered nearly 600,000 likes since it went live yesterday, so it’s safe to say a lot of people really loved the sweet photo, including singer Kelly Rowland. Talk about attention!
Danny Moder, 52, posted an equally rare photo of the twins as youngsters eating breaking in Wonder Woman-themed clothes to mark the momentous occasion. “[T]hese rabble rousers… 17 today,” he wrote in the caption. “Thank you for helping me through fatherhood.”
Although Julia Roberts and Danny Moder have kept their family life private over the years, their daughter Hazel has recently stepped into the spotlight. According to Today, the teen made her red carpet debut at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival in July while attending a screening for Flag Day, a film that Moder served as cinematographer on. She was photographed wearing a peach lacy shirtdress and black patent Mary Janes.
A few days earlier, Julia Roberts and Danny Moder, who are also parents to 14-year-old Henry, celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. The actress marked the occasion by sharing a selfie with her husband on the beach. “19 years,” she wrote. “Just getting started!”
It seems Julia Roberts has been on Instagram more than she has been in movies or TV shows nowadays. However, she is shooting the Starz limited series Gaslit, in which she plays the wife of an Attorney General serving the Nixon administration. Two months ago, co-star Sean Penn restarted the show’s production after putting it on a two-month hiatus to get everyone on set, including Roberts, fully vaccinated against COVID-19. She is set to star with George Clooney in Ticket to Paradise about divorced parents who fly to Bali to stop their vacationing post-graduate daughter from making the same mistake they made 25 years ago.
