Her time on the stages of Broadway in A Doll’s House may be winding down, but Jessica Chastain is still jumping into the makeup chair show after show to bring her character to life. Knowing that some of her fans can’t make it to New York to catch her in action, the actress shared an image to Instagram of a look behind the magic. In the picture, which you can see below, Chastain, who X-Men fans will remember starred opposite Sophie Turner in 2019’s Dark Phoenix, applies a light layer of makeup to her face in preparation for the five-to-show call.

In what can only be described as a glam shot, seemingly torn from another time, the bright bulb lights surrounding Jessica Chastain’s mirror in her dressing room perfectly illuminate her face as she dabs on her brows. On the table in front of her, we can see her script for A Doll’s House, a play that she’s been appearing in since earlier this year. Surrounded by perfect organization, the star is keeping her dressing room as tidy as possible.

Although fans have been cheering for her to take on the role of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard’s Dr. Crusher, Jessica Chastain has been keeping herself very busy on stage at the Hudson Theatre where she’s been wowing audiences with her leading performance in A Doll’s House. First penned by Henrik Ibsen, a Norwegian playwright, in 1879, the ever-popular tale of one housewife’s mental spiral while longing for more than her stay-at-home life has seen its fair share of retellings via stage and screen. A hit with audiences and critics, this is just one in a long line of titles that have taken the Academy Award-winning actress from the sets of Hollywood to the stages of Broadway.

For fans worried that her run in A Doll’s House may prevent Jessica Chastain from appearing in on-screen productions, we’re happy to report that the actress already has several more projects lined up. Hot on the heels of her 2022 performances in Netflix’s The Good Doctor and Simon Kinberg’s The 355, Chastain will next be seen in Michael Franco’s Memory and Benoît Delhomme’s Mother’s Instinct.

In the former, Jessica Chastain joins a call sheet that includes Merritt Wever and Peter Sarsgaard in a title that is being kept under wraps with no plot details revealed at this time. As for Mother’s Instinct, the film will see Chastain star opposite Anne Hathaway and Josh Charles in the director’s adaptation of Olivier Masset-Depasse’s 2018 French-language feature of the same name. A story of friendship and grief, the movie will follow the failing friendship of two 1960s housewives whose lives are overturned by a devastating tragedy.

Beyond these roles, it’s unclear where we’ll see Jessica Chastain pop up next but judging by the critical acclaim she gathered earlier this year through Showtime’s series George & Tammy, we imagine a lot of studios are hoping to work with her. Chastain’s time on A Doll’s House sees the curtain fall on June 10.
