Jason Momoa’s Marriage Is Over

According to court documents, Bonet cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the dissolution of their marriage, listing the date of separation as October 7, 2020.

The couple, known for their long-time relationship and strong bond, shocked the public when they first revealed their decision to part ways in a joint statement in January 2022.

The statement expressed their commitment to co-parenting and navigating the changes brought about by transformative times. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet share two minor-aged children, a daughter, Lola, age 16, and a son, Nakoa-Wolf, age 15.

While the couple is seeking to share joint custody of the children, both Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa are reported to be forgoing spousal support. Likely, this is because of a prenuptial agreement that outlines the division of their assets.

This marks Lisa Bonet’s second divorce, having been previously married to musician Lenny Kravitz. The couple shares a daughter, actress Zoë Kravitz.

On the other hand, this was Jason Momoa’s first and only marriage, as he and Bonet tied the knot in a secret ceremony in October 2017 after dating for many years.

Despite their separation, the couple has remained supportive of each other and dedicated to their children. Jason Momoa, in particular, has expressed admiration for Bonet’s motherhood, describing it as her “ultimate art form” and emphasizing the importance of family.

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet first started dating in 2005, 12 years after Bonet’s divorce from Kravitz. Both of their children were born before the couple tied the knot in 2017.

Even though the couple announced their separation in a public statement, speculation arose when Momoa attended The Batman premiere in the summer of 2022, in which Lisa’s daughter, Zoë Kravitz starred, leaving fans to wonder if Momoa had reunited with her mother. 

However, Jason Momoa clarified during a red-carpet interview that he was not back together with Bonet but that the pair remained part of a close-knit family.

While Jason Momoa has been a Hollywood heartthrob since he became a household name while playing the Dothraki King, Khal Drogo, in Game of Thrones, his list of lovers is very short.

The actor got his big break as a teen in 1999 when he was scouted as a model and then became part of the cast in Baywatch Hawaii. It was on set that he met actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon.

Jason Momoa and Mackinnon dated for seven years and got engaged in 2004. The couple officially broke up in 2006, which makes the actor’s romantic timeline a bit awkward, since it’s generally reported that he got together with Lisa Bonet in 2005.

Even though Jason Momoa’s divorce has yet to be finalized, it’s rumored that he has been in a relationship since February 2022 with Mexican actress and model Eiza González. The couple have been seen out together several times over the past two years, though neither have made their relationship publicly official.
