Dwayne Johnson’s starring role as the villainous Black Adam (almost renamed “Shazadam”) has been a long time coming. We still have quite a bit of time to wait before Warner Bros. unleashes the film on the world, but an exciting new report teases the involvement of fan-favorite actor, Henry Cavill.

Geekosity reports that Dwayne Johnson is pushing for Henry Cavill to show up in the upcoming Black Adam movie. Mikey Sutton, the site’s editor and founder, included this reveal in a detailed report about Zack Snyder’s Justice League no longer being canon. It’s worth noting that this is simply being heard through the Hollywood grapevine and should be taken with a grain of salt, but Sutton’s reports have proven accurate in the past. Not only did he leak the inclusion of both Spider-Man and Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, but he also broke the news that Benedict Cumberbatch and Brie Larson would be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way. We know that all of those things came to pass, so it will be interesting to see what comes from this latest tidbit about Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson.

If you are unfamiliar with Black Adam as a character, let’s dive into some quick history: Black Adam has been a DC staple since the 1940s. Created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, he debuted in The Marvel Family #1, originally appearing as a villainous, Ancient Egyptian version of Shazam. In recent years, writers and artists have transformed the character into something of an antihero desperate to establish a better life and reputation for himself. Dwayne Johnson would do a great job as a semi-heroic Black Adam, so hopefully that is the direction in which the filmmakers end up taking things. Fingers crossed.

For a bit of background, DC’s parent company AT&T is said to have wanted the Snyder Cut more than DC president Walter Hamada. Hamada was supposedly unimpressed with Snyder’s Cut and wasn’t as enthused about its release as others were. That means, though, that all Dwayne Johnson has to do is influence the big wigs at AT&T to include Henry Cavill and BAM!, we’ve got Superman in a Black Adam film. Black Adam isn’t known as a Superman villain, but maybe if the filmmakers go the aforementioned antihero route then we will see Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill team up to fight some super-powered baddies.

This news comes amidst reports of other seismic changes to DC’s onscreen universes, including the probable recasting of Ryan Reynolds and the reveal that Dave Bautista is in talks to play Bane. Neither of these pieces of information have been confirmed by the studio, but if we’ve got Bautista joining Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill over at DC, then there is even more reason for fans to be pumped for what’s next.

There are currently no official plot details released for Black Adam, but you can bet that whatever DC and Warner Bros. cook up will be just as explosive and Dwayne Johnson-centric as we need it to be. Bring it on.
