Iconic Movies Reimagined with Zombies

fb share tweet share

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is an incredible film.  As is The Empire Strikes Back.  But you know what would make them more incredible?  Shambling, decomposing, flesh-eating zombies.  And, while it may be a Herculean task to go back and put the living dead into all our favorite movies, remaking their posters to see what it might be like isn’t.  Artist and illustrator Matt Busch has put out a great collection of alternate movie posters that re-imagine classics and blockbusters of all genres as zombie movies.  It is called Hollywood is Dead, and it is awesome.

Mexico City Holds Largest Zombie Walk Ever

fb share tweet share

Any city that’s worth its salt seems to be crawling with the undead these days. Genre fans and even fairly mainstream people love taking to the streets in torn up clothing, covered in fake blood and decay.  It’s to be expected that San Diego gets invaded by walkers at Comic Con every year, and pretty much every major city has large scale zombie walks or flash mobs.  People across the globe dress up like ghouls and do the Thriller dance at the same time.  In Minnesota, you can even get your drink on and listen to groups like 2 Live Crew at the annual Zombie Pub Crawl.  And, like any good large scale themed gathering, groups vie for the world records.  The BBC reports that a group in Mexico City may have claimed the record for the largest zombie walk ever held.

It hasn’t been verified or authenticated yet, but organizers say the November 26th Mexico City zombie walk had nearly 10,000 participants.  If it’s true, that would more than double the current Guinness World Record.  That record was set by the New Jersey Zombie Walk in 2010, when 4,093 costumed creepies gathered at Asbury Park. (The group was also a part of the new record for “Most costumed riders on an amusement ride” when 330 zombies rode “Steel Force” in Pennsylvania.)  It would also trump the group in Brisbane, Australia, who amassed 8,000 zombies last month.

CDC Puts Out Comic Book To Advise On The Zombie Pandemic

fb share tweet share

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is ever vigilant against bioterrorism, plague outbreaks, and pandemics. They keep the populace informed on how to prepare and react to such catastrophic events, including the Zombie Pandemic. The goal is to ensure that people can survive until the CDC arrives with medicine, equipment, and the know-how to fight whatever has gone wrong.

Unfortunately people just don’t quite understand what they need to do, so the CDC has looked to find a way to convey the information for us laymen. The result is a graphic novella that details a zombie outbreak, Z5N1 to be exact, and what’s expected to be prepared. Because it fudges facts, the comic book isn’t really all that helpful. I know it’s a comic, but the conceit is that the average person is being taught how to prepare for a real outbreak. The CDC Emergency Kit list at the end is barely legible.

The comic would also have us believe there’d be a blood test to check for the zombie virus in mere days, a vaccine would exist in a week, and all of this would be handled with ease if only every citizen knew what to do. Not true, as is evidenced by recent pandemics where a vaccine took months to produce. Also the vaccine is not made by the CDC as the comic indicates, it’s made by the pharmaceutical companies.

The next Resident Evil movie is well underway and Milla Jovovich is on set filming as Alice. She’s also tweeting pictures of what the production’s up to, her husband is the movie’s director after all, and that means her Twitter account is always full of juicy little Retribution tidbits.

The latest from Milla is our first look at what they’re doing with the character of Ada Wong. She’ll be knew to the Resident Evil movie universe, but fans of the game universe should already know her well. Ada’s a mysterious Chinese secret agent in a red dress, and she’s involved in the world of corporate intrigue that the evil Umbrella Corporation swims in.

In the movie Ada Wong will be played by Bingbing Li, and the photo Milla tweeted of her is this:
