George Romero’s Son Is Crowdfunding This Unusual Zombie Project

20141010004126-ORIGINS_LB_8.5x11_Page_01Wouldn’t a prequel to Night of the Living Dead just be the story of every day life in the late 1960s? There aren’t any zombies before that. I guess it could also be about the long, slow, drawn out, and painful death of Barbara and Johnny’s father, the one whose grave they’re visiting at the cemetery when the movie starts. That sounds like a stone cold bummer. Those were my immediate thoughts as I learned that George Romero’s son is trying to crowdfund a Dead origins movie.

G. Cameron Romero, son of the legendary director, has launched an Indiegogo campaign to kick up funds for his project. Scheduled for 30 days, they’re looking for $150,000 to cover preproduction costs, and you can check out the film’s website for details. Or you can look at their fundraising page for what they’re looking for, what the plan is, and, if you’re into that sort of thing, what kind of perks you can get for donating to the cause.

The Walking Dead Cast This American Horror Story Actress For Season 5

Alexandra BreckinridgeSeason 5 of AMC’s runaway horror hit The Walking Dead is finally back, and just in time for Halloween no less, and fans have a lot to look forward to. After an action-packed season premiere with “No Sanctuary,” there are a number of storylines to explore and new characters to get to know. And that last category just grew by one more new face as the series has cast American Horror Story actress Alexandra Breckinridge in what is being called an important, though largely mysterious role.

THR reports that Breckinridge, who also appeared in Save Me and Family Guy, among others titles, will have a recurring role in season 5 of the zombie drama. We imagine, at this stage of the game, she won’t pop up until later in the season, most likely after the show returns from its annual mid-season hiatus. She could also be promoted to series regular moving into the already-approved season 6 if the story works out like that.

See How The Walking Dead Staged That Action-Packed Season 5 Premiere

the-walking-dead-season-5-ten-new-photosIf you watched the season 5 premiere of AMC’s mega hit The Walking Dead, you probably noticed a heavy emphasis on the action. It’s not necessarily one long action scene, but it’s definitely approaching that territory. This is easily the biggest, most ambitious, sprawling sequence that they’ve ever attempted, including the scenes at Woodbury in season 3 and the battle at the prison in season 4. Now you can see how they how they went about setting it up.

Special effects guru Greg Nicotero, who also happened to helm the season debut, “No Sanctuary,” shared his extensive set of storyboards with Entertainment Weekly. The scene may look chaotic and jumbled on screen, but these pieces give you an idea of just how much planning and work went into crafting this episode. You can’t just step outside with a camera and some zombie extras and wing something like this, you have to do a lot of preparation to stage this big and intricate a scene.

The Walking Dead Previews Look Ahead To Games, New Characters, And Trouble

After season 4 of AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead wrapped up on a massive cliffhanger, fans spent the ensuing months on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what happens next.. Last night that tension was finally unleashed in the form of a bloody, brutal, action heavy season 5 premiere, “No Sanctuary.” In the wake of those events there’s a lot to chew on, and the network released two new looks at next week’s episode, “Strangers,” a couple behind the scenes peeks at the debut, as well as two surprising scenes from last night.

The first promo is the one that was tacked onto the end of the episode as it aired and gives you a look at the action from next week in a standard fashion. Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) is still talking about getting to Washington DC, you get your first glimpse at another new character, Seth Gilliam’s Father Gabriel Stokes, who fans of Robert Kirkman’s comics know well, and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) tells Carl (Chandler Riggs) to never let his guard down. Sound advice after what they just experienced at Terminus.

The Walking Dead Season 5 Premiere Post-Game: There’s No Sanctuary In Terminus

Well, that’s one way to start off a season. A couple of years ago, if I told you the biggest show on television would kick off its fifth season with cannibals, blood spurting from sliced-open throats, and one group of people preparing to gouge out the eyeballs of another group of people, you might not have believed me. But we live in a world where AMC’s The Walking Dead is more popular than we ever could have imagined, and that, and more, all happened within the first few minutes.

It should go without saying that if you haven’t watched the season 5 premiere, “No Sanctuary,” you might want to stop reading right now, as we’re going to get into all manner of spoiler type things, like spoilers.
